About the Game
At the 2025 Game Awards, Lucasfilm Games and Arcanaut Studios announced Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a new single-player action RPG focused on storytelling.
You play as a Force user embarking on an adventure across the galaxy, a time when the Old Republic is falling apart and a new era is beginning. The game features a strong story, characters you’ll remember, and gameplay where your choices matter.
The announcement showcased a brief teaser trailer and a special interview with game director Casey Hudson, famous for his contributions to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect series. Hudson explained the team’s focus on creating a fresh, yet authentic, Star Wars game.
According to interviews given with the announcement, while Fate of the Old Republic isn’t a direct continuation of the original KOTOR games, it aims to capture the spirit of those games by offering players a brand-new story with meaningful choices and a richly detailed world.
This project, currently under development, is blending a story where your choices matter with exciting action. It’s built on the years of experience and imagination of Hudson.
