Noah Hawley on the Possibility of a ‘Predator’ Crossover with ‘Alien: Earth’

As a longtime fan of Alien: Earth, I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz lately – and it all points to a possible crossover with the Predator franchise! With the show gearing up for its second season on FX and Hulu, everyone’s wondering if these two iconic sci-fi worlds might finally collide. It’s an exciting prospect, and I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled for any hints as the new season approaches.

Noah Hawley, the creator of the show, recently discussed the possibility of a crossover on the SmartLess podcast, but stated that there are no plans for one at this time.

When asked if he might be involved, Hawley responded, “Not with the show, I don’t think.” He did, however, express his admiration for Dan Trachtenberg, the director of Prey and a contributor to Predator: Badlands.

Look, I really enjoyed Dan Trachtenberg’s ‘Prey.’ He’s clearly got a vision for that series, and it’s fantastic to see. I’ve actually met him briefly, but just to be clear, we’re not collaborating on anything, so whatever direction he’s taking isn’t something I’m involved in planning.

Although a crossover with Predator isn’t planned, the showrunner revealed some details about Season 2. The new season will focus on what happens after Wendy’s choices in the first season’s finale and the repercussions of those actions.

He described the feeling when the heroes finally take control as incredibly exciting for viewers. He then wondered what happens after that moment, referencing the iconic church scene in The Graduate where Dustin Hoffman runs to a bus. He explained that in their story, while the characters achieve a victory, trouble is quickly approaching – the Weyland-Yutani ships are on their way, and the characters are facing major difficulties.

Hawley intends to further develop the futuristic setting, particularly focusing on the intense political maneuvering within large corporations and how they’ve gained governmental-level power. He describes this corporate landscape as reminiscent of the show ‘Game of Thrones.’ However, the central focus of the series will remain Wendy and her team as they struggle to survive.

The series takes place in 2120, two years before the events of the original Alien movie. In a world largely controlled by five powerful corporations—Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold—the arrival of a crashed spaceship throws everything into chaos. Wendy and a team of soldiers investigating the crash uncover dangerous creatures that pose a threat to Earth. They must fight to survive and make a critical decision about how to deal with this new danger, which could permanently alter life as they know it.

The show features a talented cast including Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, Sandra Yi Sencindiver, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, and Jonathan Ajayi, among others.

Although a team-up between Predator and Alien isn’t currently in the works, the show’s creator, Noah Hawley, is dedicated to building out the Alien world, which means Season 2 should be full of exciting stories and suspense.
