A preview of the upcoming horror movie Silent Night, Deadly Night reveals a shockingly violent scene: Santa Claus battling Nazis. This is the second remake of the 1984 film and the seventh movie in the series overall, written and directed by Mike P. Nelson. It will be in theaters December 12th, and Cineverse is distributing it in the United States.

The movie features Rohan Campbell as Billy Chapman, alongside Ruby Modine, David Lawrence Brown, David Tomlinson, and Mark Acheson. It first showed at Fantastic Fest on September 21st. Reports suggest this version is more faithful to the original story than earlier remakes.
This project has been in the works for quite some time. Originally, in 2020, filmmaker Joe Begos proposed a version with a malfunctioning robot Santa, but it wasn’t approved because it differed too much from the original story. Later, Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios took on the project, but it didn’t gain momentum until 2024. That’s when Mike P. Nelson, who previously worked on Wrong Turn, was officially confirmed as the writer and director.
Early reviews of the movie are very positive. Currently, 88% of critics on Rotten Tomatoes – based on 17 reviews – recommend it, suggesting it will be a thrilling and fun holiday watch, though likely quite violent.
Silent Night, Deadly Night is a horror-comedy that reimagines Santa Claus as a terrifying figure. After a long wait, fans will finally be able to see this updated take on the holiday story when it hits theaters on December 12th.
