First Teaser for ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Reboot Drops, Nods to Classic Back-Shaving Scene

Hulu just released a short preview of the new ‘Malcolm in the Middle‘ series, offering a first look at what viewers can expect.

The brief clip revisits a memorable scene from the original series, recreating a joke from one of the very first episodes. While it’s a short bit, it signals that the reboot will strongly reference the show’s original style and humor.

Looks like some things really do stay the same! 🪒 Fans of ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ will be happy to hear that a special four-part event, titled ‘Life’s Still Unfair,’ will be available to stream in 2026.

The upcoming project, called “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair,” will consist of four episodes. It’s expected to premiere in 2026 on both Hulu and Hulu within Disney+ in the U.S., and will be available on Disney+ in other countries.

The show is returning with Malcolm reluctantly drawn back into his family’s lively chaos when his parents, Hal and Lois, demand he attend their 40th wedding anniversary. Now a father himself, Malcolm wants to shield his daughter from the wild family dynamics he experienced as a child, but fans can expect things to quickly become complicated, as always with the Wilkersons.

The original stars of the show – Bryan Cranston, Frankie Muniz, Jane Kaczmarek, Chris Kennedy Masterson, Justin Berfield, and Emy Coligado – are all back for the revival. The show will also introduce new actors playing Malcolm’s daughter, his brother, and other characters. This blend of familiar faces and new additions hints that the revival will offer both a nostalgic experience and fresh stories.

Disney Branded Television and 20th Television are producing the series, with New Regency also contributing. Linwood Boomer, the creator of the original show, returns as a writer and executive producer.

Bryan Cranston is also a producer on the show, alongside Tracy Katsky, Gail Berman, and the team at New Regency – Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann. Ken Kwapis is directing all episodes, and Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye are co-executive producers.
