Jessica Alba Says “Humiliating” Fantastic Four Nude Scene Still Haunts Her

Jessica Alba recently shared some thoughts on her experience filming the first Fantastic Four movies, and recalled an embarrassing moment she still remembers. At the Red Sea Film Festival, she explained that one scene in the 2005 film was particularly challenging for her.

The actress said the most awkward moment for her during filming was when her character, Sue Storm, reappeared naked.

Alba explained that filming a particular scene was difficult for her due to her upbringing and personal values. She admitted to the audience, “I really hated it. It was a very embarrassing experience. I was raised in a fairly conservative family, and I’m generally a private person. I was anxious about that scene for weeks, and it really affected me for a while afterward.”

Despite a difficult experience with the film, Alba still feels fondly about her character. She explained that Sue Storm was different from most female heroes of that era, possessing a strong sense of right and wrong, genuine compassion, and a willingness to voice her opinions.

She described the woman as someone she deeply admired. This person was warm, caring, and like a mother figure, but she wasn’t afraid to speak up and stand her ground. She always did what was right, and she’s someone anyone can look up to.

Alba discussed how women were typically portrayed in superhero movies in the past. She noted that female characters were often relegated to supporting roles, frequently needing rescue, but she believes this has evolved over time.

The actress said she hasn’t had a chance to see Vanessa Kirby play Sue Storm in the new Fantastic Four movie. She explained that her children generally choose what the family watches.

Alba explained that she enjoys watching movies with her kids, and her son is a huge fan of ‘Sonic,’ wanting to watch it repeatedly. She often has to negotiate with him to make time for it, as she’s also a big Marvel fan and loves those movies too.

Jessica Alba played Sue Storm in the first two Fantastic Four movies, released in 2005 and 2007 (Rise of the Silver Surfer). Although the films were financially successful, reviews from critics weren’t very positive.

Many viewers thought the movies lacked depth, didn’t develop the characters fully, and depended too much on basic humor and visual spectacle. Jessica Alba’s performance received varied reactions. While some critics praised her portrayal of Sue, others believed the script didn’t offer her enough opportunity to shine, particularly when compared to today’s superhero films that feature more complex female characters.

Despite initial criticism, the films developed a dedicated following over time, particularly with younger viewers who enjoyed them as they were growing up. Many fans now remember them fondly with a sense of nostalgia.
