Last year’s Disney report dedicated a section to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), detailing plans to support creatives from underrepresented groups and highlighting over 100 employee-led groups. This year’s report doesn’t include any of that information. The word “equity” now appears only when discussing financial matters.

DEI Programs Quietly Removed
Earlier this year, Disney quietly removed mentions of its “Reimagine Tomorrow” and “The Disney Look” programs from official documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The Reimagine Tomorrow program faced criticism after a company leader openly talked about intentionally including LGBTQ+ themes in animated content.

Shareholders Still Support Equality Index
Even though Disney moved some of its legal filings, its shareholders still voted in March to keep participating in the Human Rights Campaign’s corporate equality index, and Disney received a perfect score of 100 this year.

“Belonging” Replaces “Diversity”
Last month, Disney hosted its first “Global Belonging Week,” according to Business Insider. The company emphasized “belonging” and “inclusion” during the event, and notably avoided using the term “diversity.” This suggests Disney is changing how it communicates about its workplace culture.
