As a critic, I’ve been keeping a close eye on what everyone’s watching, and this week on Max is a real mixed bag – everything from brand new, talked-about shows to the guilty pleasures we all know and love. We’ve got clever animated comedies, gripping true crime documentaries, big-budget superhero adventures, and, of course, more from the ever-popular ’90 Day Fiancé’ franchise. Let’s run down the top 10 shows everyone’s streaming right now.
10. ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’ (2019– )

As a reality TV fan, especially of the ’90 Day’ universe, ‘The Other Way’ is one of my favorites. It’s a cool twist on the original – instead of the foreign partners coming to America, it follows Americans who pack up and move to their partner’s country. It’s fascinating to watch them navigate the whole immigration process and deal with being the ‘outsider’ in a new culture. New seasons usually drop on Mondays on TLC, and if you’re into streaming, you can typically catch them on Max after a bit. Over the years, we’ve seen couples move all over the place – Asia, Europe, South America, even Australia! It started back in 2019 and it’s still a big part of what makes the ’90 Day’ franchise so popular.
9. ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’ (2016– )

This popular spin-off of ‘90 Day Fiancé’ follows couples after they’ve gotten married, showing how they navigate the challenges of family, money, and cultural differences. New episodes air on TLC and are also available on Max, along with select past seasons. The show uses a realistic filming style, personal interviews, and occasional reunion episodes where the couples discuss their experiences. It first aired in 2016 and continues to be a fan favorite with new seasons added regularly.
8. ‘The Real Murders on Elm Street’ (2024– )

‘The Real Murders on Elm Street’ investigates actual crimes that happened on streets named Elm Street, sharing a name with the famous horror movie. Each episode combines interviews with people who survived these crimes and the detectives who investigated them. The series focuses on cases from smaller towns and shows how location and chance play a role in real-life violence. You can watch it on Investigation Discovery, and both seasons are currently available for streaming on Max.
7. ‘Baylen Out Loud’ (2025– )

‘Baylen Out Loud’ is a TLC series and streaming show on Max that follows Baylen Dupree, a TikTok creator, as she lives her life, works, and builds relationships while managing Tourette syndrome. The show was quickly renewed for a second season, set to continue in 2025, thanks to its successful start. It covers important moments in Baylen’s life, including family events, her work as an advocate, and changes in her relationship with her fiancé, Colin Dooley. The second season began airing weekly in early October.
6. ‘Peacemaker’ (2022– )

Peacemaker, starring John Cena, continues the story of the DC universe following ‘The Suicide Squad.’ The show follows the helmeted antihero as he tackles dangerous missions and his own inner struggles. The first season debuted in 2022 on HBO Max with episodes released weekly, and the second season premiered in 2025, releasing one episode each Thursday. It’s a blend of intense action and the everyday interactions of a team at work, all connected by a larger, ongoing mystery. Each episode usually runs between 40 and 50 minutes.
5. ‘The Friday the 13th Murders’ (2025– )

‘The Friday the 13th Murders’ is a true-crime documentary series exploring real cases that share a connection to the infamous date, either through timing or strange coincidences. The show features interviews with people who survived these events, combined with historical footage. Since its 2025 debut, the series has been adding new episodes, each focusing on a different location and the detectives involved. Typically, each episode details a case from the moment someone goes missing to how it was ultimately solved, highlighting how the police worked and how the community was affected. New episodes become available on Max after they air on television.
4. ‘Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake’ (2023– )

‘Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake’ is a spin-off of ‘Adventure Time’ geared towards young adults. The show follows the popular characters Fionna and Cake as they travel through different universes where magic, who they are, and what’s meant to happen get really complicated. The first season came out in late summer 2023, with new episodes added to Max after they premiered. Unlike the original series, this one tells a continuous story that unfolds each week, rather than starting fresh with every episode. It’s made by Cartoon Network Studios and is a Max Original series.
3. ‘Smiling Friends’ (2020– )

‘Smiling Friends’ is an animated comedy on Adult Swim that follows the employees of a small company dedicated to making people happy. They usually achieve this through strange and unpredictable experiences. The show quietly began with a test episode before officially premiering in 2022, and new seasons continue to be released, with episodes available to stream on Max after they air. What makes the show visually unique is its blend of animation styles, including 2D, 3D, stop-motion, and even some live-action. Each episode is relatively short, typically lasting around 11 minutes.
2. ‘The Chair Company’ (2025– )

Okay, so I just finished watching ‘The Chair Company,’ and it’s seriously wild. It’s a comedy-thriller about this guy, Ron Trosper, who gets caught up in a huge conspiracy after something super awkward happens at work. It was created by Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, and the cast is fantastic – Lake Bell and Sophia Lillis are both in it! The first season dropped in October on HBO and you can stream it on Max. Each episode is only about half an hour long, and honestly, they end on these cliffhangers that just make you want to keep watching – it’s a really easy show to binge!
1. ‘Task’ (2025– )

“Task” is a dramatic TV series starring Mark Ruffalo as an experienced agent who gets drawn into a secret mission that reveals a widespread conspiracy. The show first aired on HBO in 2025, and new episodes are available to stream on Max after they air on television. Each episode continues the story from the last, focusing on action in the field, political games, and the personal consequences for those involved. New episodes are released every week and usually last between 45 and 60 minutes.
