Right after Mega Hawlucha was shown off in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, an announcement came that CMLL, a major Mexican wrestling organization, would be holding a special Pokémon-sponsored event to advertise the new game. The event wasn’t just a formality; several wrestlers put in extra effort, wearing outfits inspired by different Pokémon as they entered the ring.
The highlight of the event was a recreation of the animated short introducing Mega Hawlucha, followed by a six-person tag-team match between Team Hawlucha and Team Machamp. Mistico entered dressed as Hawlucha, while Hechicero wore a Machamp mask and weight belt. As expected, Team Hawlucha won, and Mistico received a unique championship belt featuring the game’s logo and Mega Evolution elements.
The Pokémon-themed fun wasn’t limited to just those wrestlers. Earlier in the evening, during a women’s tag team match, La Catalina appeared wearing a full bodysuit inspired by Sylveon, complete with a sweet bow at the neck. Kira joined in with a Togepi-themed mask and wrestling outfit, which got the crowd chanting “Togepi” throughout the match.
Honestly, the whole event was amazing, but seeing Pikachu and Eevee bouncing around on stage and enjoying the wrestling matches really made my night! It was such a cool experience for anyone who loves Pokémon *and* wrestling – a perfect blend of both worlds!
