The Russo Brothers have ignited anticipation amongst Marvel enthusiasts yet again, posting cryptically on Instagram with the hashtag “#DoomsdayIsApproaching”. They released a fuzzy image that leaves fans speculating over what’s to come in the upcoming Avengers movie.
Viewers believe that the depicted image represents Reed Richards’ chalkboard from “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”. The white scribbles on a blackboard, accompanied by a yellow line, serve as clear indicators.
In the latest Fantastic Four film, Mr. Fantastic is delving into alternate realities, which could potentially be pivotal for Avengers: Doomsday.
In this scenario, a mysterious hint is presented following the end credits of the movie “Thunderbolts,” directed by the Russos. The appearance of the Excelsior spaceship in the Earth-616 sky suggests a strong possibility that various realities could converge at some point.
Title of the upcoming film is “Avengers: Doomsday,” marking its position as the fifth movie in the Avengers series and the 39th installment within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, with Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely penning the script.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble of actors such as Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr., all of whom contribute to the film’s stellar lineup.
In the narrative, The Avengers join forces with the Wakandans, The Fantastic Four, The X-Men, and The New Avengers to confront Doctor Doom, portrayed by Downey.
The movie is now scheduled in Marvel’s Phase Six lineup, replacing earlier plans for “The Kang Dynasty” and “Secret Wars” to conclude the “Multiverse Saga.” Due to director and writer changes, along with actor availability problems, Marvel decided to revise their blueprint. The Russo brothers are back as directors, while McFeely resumes his co-writing role, and Robert Downey Jr.’s casting as Doctor Doom has given the project a fresh direction.
Filming for this project started in April at Pinewood Studios located in England. Additional footage was captured in both England and Bahrain. This upcoming movie will boast a massive gathering of actors who have previously worked on Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions and Marvel’s 20th Century Fox films, making it one of the biggest superhero ensemble efforts to date.
The movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled for release in U.S. cinemas on December 18, 2026. The subsequent film, named “Secret Wars,” is due to premiere a year later on December 17, 2027.
