James Gunn is unequivocally stating that the initial episode of Peacemaker’s second season is definitely not suitable for kids. During a chat with Rainn Wilson, Gunn elaborated on how the debut surpasses what many may anticipate in terms of content.
This segment contains repeated instances of strong profanity, such as the term “F-word,” and an explicit scene with suggestive dancing involving human figures.
Wilson was taken aback when he initially witnessed it. Gunn explained, “Understand, we aimed to make it authentic. I’m not concerned about the usage of the C word… But the obscenity in the first episode, I believe we’re simply letting viewers know, ‘Hey, this is a thrilling journey you’re embarking on for the entire season, and this is the level of absurdity you can expect.’
Gunn clarified that while Peacemaker is a sequel to the 2025 DC Universe film Superman, it’s important to note that the series is not intended for young audiences. He added that due to HBO’s history of providing creators with creative freedom regarding mature themes and content, this season will be no different.
As I embarked on the process of filming the intimate scene, the intimacy coordinator became an invaluable companion. They ensured that during those crucial shooting days, we were completely at ease and could focus solely on our performance, knowing that everyone involved shared the same understanding and comfort level.
The second installment of Peacemaker finds its focus on Chris Smith, a mercenary with strong patriotic leanings, in the DC Universe, serving as a refreshed version of the DC Extended Universe. As DC Studios takes charge with Gunn at the helm, the season is slated for release on HBO Max on August 21, 2025, spanning eight episodes. Early reviews are glowing, commending its enhancement over the previous season and lauding John Cena’s acting, along with the ensemble cast.
In keeping with our word, here’s the complete sneak peek of Peacemaker Season 2. The 11th Street Gang returns for twice the peace in August. Don’t miss it on @streamonmax featuring @johncena, @jennlholland, @thedanieb, @itsnhutle, and @robertpatrickT2.

As a discerning film enthusiast, allow me to preface my review by stating unequivocally that this season does not shy away from its mature theme from the opening credits themselves. Guided by Gunn’s unmistakable guidance, it is essential for viewers to understand that this is most certainly not a production meant for the innocent eyes of children. Instead, prepare yourself for an audacious spectacle brimming with boldness, outlandishness, and graphic content right from the get-go.
