Steam now only accepts PayPal payments in six currencies

As a dedicated gamer who prefers using PayPal for my purchases, I’ve found that navigating Steam’s payment methods can sometimes present a challenge, particularly when it comes to specific currencies.

The update implies that for your purchases, you’ll be able to utilize PayPal effectively only if you transact using one of these six specific currencies.

  • AUD – Australian Dollar
  • CAD – Canadian Dollar
  • EUR – Euro
  • GBP – Great British Pound
  • JPY – Japanese Yen
  • USD – United States Dollar

According to a statement by Steam, this modification took place in early July. This was after PayPal informed Valve that their bank handling payments in specific currencies was abruptly ending all transactions related to Steam. This change might not be linked to Steam removing several controversial NSFW games due to pressure from payment processors, as many popular currencies are still supported on the platform.

If you’re a PayPal user using a currency not among the six specified and wish to purchase games on Steam, it is necessary for you to locate an alternate payment method.
