In an unexpected shift from his superhero role, Chris Hemsworth showcased his drumming skills by performing alongside Ed Sheeran at the National Arena in Bucharest, Romania, in front of a crowd of 70,000 people. This event is featured in Hemsworth’s upcoming series, Limitless: Live Better Now, which delves into various physical and mental challenges aimed at improving health and longevity.
During Ed Sheeran’s “+÷x” Tour, Chris Hemsworth played the drums on the popular song “Thinking Out Loud.” This was a significant departure for Hemsworth, as he confessed that he lacked any prior musical background before accepting this task.
A challenge from Ed Sheeran sparks Hemsworth’s drumming debut
The concept originated directly from Ed Sheeran, who boldly invited Hemsworth to deliver a live performance at one of his shows. Accepting the dare, Hemsworth dedicated himself to rigorous training with Parkway Drive’s drummer, Ben Gordon.
Ed Sheeran characterized the experience as potentially the toughest feat Chris Hemsworth has encountered so far, as depicted in the trailer for the upcoming series, Chris Hemsworth is seen grappling with rhythm and overcoming stage fright while practicing drums.
Even though Chris Hemsworth was relatively inexperienced, he gave an impressive live show in Bucharest that left the spectators thrilled. “Let’s give it up for Chris Hemsworth!” Sheeran announced to the audience as he introduced his unexpected guest.
Here’s why Chris Hemsworth took on the drumming challenge
As a dedicated follower, I took up the drumming challenge as part of my personal mission, following Hemsworth’s lead in Limitless: Live Better Now, aiming to enhance brain health, concentration, and memory. Over the course of two years, I journeyed through six different countries, collaborating with cognitive scientists, medical professionals, MMA fighters, and other experts, all in pursuit of discovering secrets to live a longer and more fulfilling life.
Speaking about the creation of this series, Hemsworth expressed that it’s been a transformative voyage for him. He’s uncovered numerous insights about his personal health, endurance, and what true living entails. He hopes this upcoming chapter will encourage viewers to venture beyond their familiar boundaries and welcome challenges, as the positive influence it’s had on his life has been incredibly deep-rooted.
Following the show, Sheeran presented Hemsworth with a lighthearted “Award for Outstanding Drumming,” a trophy designed as a hand clutching drumsticks. This was a friendly gesture acknowledging their camaraderie, reminiscent of when Hemsworth gifted Sheeran a Thor replica hammer and Sheeran reciprocated with a guitar.
Starting August 15, you can catch “Limitless: Live Better Now” on both Disney+ and Hulu. This series will also be aired on National Geographic on August 25. The three-part documentary continues from the 2022’s “Limitless With Chris Hemsworth,” featuring additional challenges like ice climbing in the Swiss Alps and training with South Korea’s Special Forces.
