‘24’ Creator Howard Gordon Talks Revival After Kiefer Sutherland Hints

So, I was reading Deadline, and Howard Gordon, the guy who ran 24 back in the day, was talking about bringing the show back! It sounds like Kiefer Sutherland might have already dropped some hints that something’s in the works, and Gordon’s comments definitely suggest a revival isn’t out of the question. As a huge fan, I’m really excited by the possibility of seeing Jack Bauer back in action!

Kiefer Sutherland, known for his role as Jack Bauer, mentioned on a radio program that Howard Gordon has developed an idea he approves of, and a script has already been written that he believes is strong.

He explained that the project is still awaiting final approval, noting it needs to go through the proper procedures before a decision is made. However, he also expressed his strong desire to see it completed, stating that the previous ending felt unresolved and that they’ve made significant progress, leaving him hopeful it will happen.

Gordon verified that work on a new project is happening, but emphasized that no final decisions have been made. He explained, “We’re definitely developing something, but Disney and others haven’t officially agreed to it yet, so it’s still in the works.”

He shared that over the years, many ideas have been explored to revive the world of 24, including spin-offs with new leads and proposals from different writers. “Both Kiefer [Sutherland] and I really love that show,” Gordon said. “The challenge was always finding a compelling new direction that could really work. This current idea feels promising, but it’s still just in development – nothing is finalized yet.”

Gordon stressed how important quality is to him. He explained, “I want to make sure the show is good because it’s not fair to anyone – the viewers, or even myself – if it isn’t. We need to create something people can connect with, or at least want to connect with. It might not be perfect, but we have to genuinely believe in what we’re doing.”
