‘Zootopia 2’ Continues Its Box Office Surge in Weekend Two, Hitting Massive Numbers

Zootopia 2 is still performing incredibly well in theaters, earning a lot of money around the world in its second week of release.

The animated movie has quickly become a global success, earning $915.8 million in just two weekends. A large portion of that – $695.3 million – came from theaters outside the United States. Experts believe the film will reach $1 billion in total earnings within the next week.

Jared Bush and Byron Howard’s new film, Zootopia 2, is breaking records. After just two weekends in theaters, it’s become the third-highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2025 globally, and is currently the top-performing film overseas.

The movie has made $430.4 million in China, becoming the second-highest-grossing studio film there, after Avengers: Endgame.

Zootopia 2 debuted at number one in Japan this weekend, earning $12.3 million. This is the second-highest opening weekend ever for a Hollywood film in the country, following Frozen 2.

The film earned $219 million internationally during its second weekend in 52 countries. Globally, ticket sales decreased by 40%, but this drop was smaller – just 27% – if you don’t include China. The film performed particularly well in Brazil (down 16%), Germany (down 18%), France (down 27%), Korea (down 27%), Australia (down 28%), Spain (down 28%), the UK (down 34%), Italy (down 38%), China (down 45%), and Mexico (down 46%).

Deadline Hollywood predicted the movie would earn over $125 million in the US and Canada and $270 million worldwide during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. However, the film, Zootopia 2, exceeded expectations, bringing in $158.8 million domestically and a global total of $560.3 million during its opening weekend.

The film had the biggest opening weekend of any animated movie ever, and the fourth-biggest opening of all time. It earned $100.3 million in the U.S. and Canada over its first three days. It was especially successful in China, making $271.6 million during its opening weekend and becoming the first Hollywood film to bring in over $100 million in a single day – on Saturday, November 29th.

The new horror movie, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, had a strong opening weekend, earning $109.1 million globally – much more than expected.

The movie made approximately $46.1 million worldwide in 76 countries. While this is less than the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie earned, it performed better than Final Destination: Bloodlines and Annabelle Comes Home, and significantly outperformed Smile 2 (more than double its earnings), not including money made from preview showings.
