Zoe Saldaña Wants a Brown Actress To Take on the Role of Gamora in the MCU

As a dedicated gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and anticipation as Zoe Saldaña shares her thoughts on Gamora’s future. Having grown up watching the Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek franchises, it’s heartening to see one of my favorite characters potentially passing the torch to another talented actress.

Previously this year, Zoe Saldaña expressed her views on potentially reprising her role as Gamora in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ series. She said that Gamora seems to be “dead”, but she doesn’t believe that Gamora is truly dead.

Back then, I had voiced my optimism for another actress to play the role of my beloved character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fast forward to now, and lo and behold, Zoe Saldaña has spoken up again about Gamora’s potential future.

During an interview with Variety, the actress shared that after a series of high-budget blockbusters, her initial enthusiasm waned.

In retrospect, I wish I had given stronger performances for Gamora in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Avengers’ films, as well as Uhura in ‘Star Trek’. However, it is what it is – I believe I did my best, but there was always room for improvement. That’s just my nature.

Saldaña has pledged to star in two additional “Avatar” sequels, keeping her busy professionally well into her fifties, as well as the second season of “Lioness,” which will debut on October 27, and a long-anticipated fourth “Star Trek” movie.

Instead of continuing with Marvel, it seems she’s preparing for a change. After seven years, she finds fulfillment wrapping up her journey in 2023’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”. She’s now eager to hand over the role to a new actor.

Consider casting a woman of color as Gamora, giving her a chance to make her mark on the character. Just as I was able to introduce Nyota Uhura with the blessings of Nichelle Nichols.
