Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet’s Dune 3 to Start Filming a Year Earlier Than Expected? Here’s What We Know

The third installment of Dune, featuring Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, and Josh Brolin, is now scheduled to start filming in June 2025 instead of the initially anticipated production in 2026. According to Deadline’s reports, the makers have decided to advance the filming timeline to speed up the movie’s global release.

In a chat I recently had with a media outlet, Denis Villeneuve, the mastermind behind the Dune series, shared that he’s currently penning the script for the third film.

Moreover, the filmmaker intentionally titled the movie as “Dune: Messiah” instead of “Dune: Chapter Three.

Regarding the movie, Villeneuve shared his thoughts, mentioning that he had an option to conclude the series with the second part. However, he elaborated, “Indeed, similar to Herbert’s approach with Dune: Messiah, I believe it would be intriguing to explore something entirely fresh. The story unfolds approximately 12 years after we last saw our characters at the end of Part Two. Their journey and narrative have undergone a change this time around, which is why I often emphasize that although it’s the same world, it’s essentially a new film with novel circumstances.

The first two installments of “Dune,” namely “Dune: Part One” and “Dune: Part Two,” were blockbuster hits worldwide, garnering acclaim for their compelling acting and captivating narrative inspired by the “Dune” cosmos created by Frank Herbert.

Alongside Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, and Josh Brolin, the talented ensemble also includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem, and Charlotte Rampling, as well as several other notable actors.

The movie’s theatrical release has been brought forward by a year, meaning fans can now look forward to watching it in 2026.
