In the spirit of Link’s adventures in Breath of the Wild, you might encounter formidable Lynels earlier than expected in Tears of the Kingdom. If your skills aren’t fully honed yet, these towering centaur-like beasts could deal a swift and devastating blow. However, as you gather better equipment and improve your abilities, seeking out these powerful foes may become an exciting challenge you relish!
As a gamer, I can vouch for the game-changing power of those horns! Each one provides significant damage upgrades, making them an essential addition to my arsenal. Not only that, but the loot they drop is nothing short of impressive – especially those triple-fire bows and robust shields. And if you’re aiming to max out your Barbarian Armor, you’ll need to track down multiple types of these bad boys!
We’ll provide you with the locations where Lynels tend to appear, allowing you to gather resources following each Blood Moon event.

How to find white/silver-maned Lynels – Zelda TOTK
Lynel’s mane color signifies its strength level, with the following order from least strong to most robust:
- Red-maned Lynel
- Blue-maned Lynel
- White-maned Lynel
- Silver-maned Lynel
It appears that certain spawn locations are consistently yielding specific entities (for instance, the spot in Western Hyrule Plains always produces a Red-maned Lynel), whereas others seem to be less predictable or dependent on your unseen advancement score.
The specifics of how it functions may be vague, but to put it simply, the likelihood of encountering stronger types of enemies, such as Lynels and others, increases with each enemy you defeat. For instance, Silver-maned Lynels will not appear in the game until you’ve defeated all other types of Lynels first.
To make a new kind of Lynel appear, first defeat the existing ones guarding their spots, and then wait for the next Silver Moon (Blood Moon) to re-spawn them. Often, a Silver Lynel will emerge after defeating a White Lynel, replacing it.
Another option is to visit the Colosseum located in The Depths. There, you’ll battle one of every Lynel, ensuring you walk away with a silver one. As your prize for victory, you’ll receive Majora’s Mask.
