Zazie Beetz Gives Disappointing Update on Domino’s MCU Future, Says She Hasn’t Had Talks with Marvel

At the 2025 SXSW Festival, Zazie Beetz spoke about her uncertain involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, possibly disappointing fans who had hoped to see more of her as Domino. Despite impressing audiences with her role as the luck-infused character in Deadpool 2, it appears that a return to the Marvel universe is not yet set in stone.

As a passionate fan, I’ve yet to engage in conversations about reprising my role with Marvel Studios. However, during quiet moments, I occasionally daydream about it and joke about having secret negotiations with myself! Whether it will come to fruition remains to be seen. If the opportunity arises, I’d have to collaborate with a talented writer and put in the work. But for now, only time will tell!

In the summer of last year, Deadpool joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time with the blockbuster film Deadpool & Wolverine. However, two key characters, Domino and Cable, were missing from the movie. The omission of Cable was humorously explained as a nod to X-Force’s lack of success in test screenings, but the whereabouts or outcome of Domino were never mentioned.

Previously, Beetz has shown excitement about reprising her role as Domino, stating that she would “delight” in doing so. Nevertheless, Marvel’s future plans for this character are still uncertain. Even Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, has mentioned that he imagines Deadpool staying independent, instead of joining groups such as the X-Men or Avengers. This could potentially influence whether characters like Domino from X-Force reappear.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my admiration for Zazie Beetz’s breathtaking portrayal of Domino in Deadpool 2. The way she brought the character to life left me craving more, with fans worldwide yearning for her story to unfold further. It would be a tremendous oversight if this captivating character never graced our screens again within the franchise.

When Deadpool 2 hit theaters, it subtly hinted at future team-centric sequels that could have showcased Domino’s talents. However, Disney’s acquisition of Fox altered those plans, and the spotlight instead fell on Deadpool & Wolverine. This new installment prioritized Wade Wilson’s intriguing dynamics with Logan, seemingly setting aside the chance to delve back into previous Deadpool characters like Domino.

The probability of Domino reappearing in Beetz’s role hinges on the fate of the Deadpool series. Since Reynolds hasn’t been contacted about Avengers: Doomsday, it seems that fans might have to wait for a possible Deadpool 4 before seeing Deadpool again. Given Marvel’s busy schedule and Reynold’s commitments to other projects, updates about Deadpool’s next journey could take some time. However, despite the passage of nearly a decade since Domino was first introduced, there remains optimism that she will have another chance to shine when Deadpool takes his next step.
