Okay, seriously, when Jisoo and Zayn teamed up, I almost lost it! It was HUGE – Jisoo’s first time collaborating with someone outside of Korea, and Zayn dipping his toes into K-pop? Amazing! Everyone went wild for ‘EYES CLOSED,’ and it even hit the Billboard Hot 100 at number 72 – so proud! But the sweetest part? Zayn said his daughter was the reason he wanted to work with Jisoo, which is just…goals. Total dad points earned, and honestly, a perfect reason to bring these two incredible artists together!
BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Zayn Malik’s collaboration details revealed
Zayn Malik told BBC Radio 1 that the BLACKPINK member actually initiated their collaboration, saying she was eager to work with him. They ended up using a song he’d already finished, as he knew it was something she’d enjoy. Once she sent over her part, he adjusted his vocals to fit the overall feel of the track.
He praised BLACKPINK, saying they’re currently incredibly successful. He explained his decision to collaborate was influenced by his daughter, a huge fan, who asked him to be a part of it. He wanted to impress her and felt it would make him ‘cool’ again. He was happy to return to pop music through this collaboration, especially with a group that’s dominating the genre right now, calling it an honor.
He finished by thanking Jisoo for the opportunity, saying, “I’d really like to thank her for that,” during an interview.
Jisoo is planning to release her second solo album next year, and fans believe she’s also working on several collaborations – hints of which they spotted in her “EYES CLOSED” music video. She’s currently touring the world with BLACKPINK as part of the BLACKPINK Deadline World Tour.
