Zara Larsson has Chris Brown blocked on Spotify, and she’s not afraid to say why.
The singer of “Midnight Sun” has always been a strong advocate for women. She’s well-known for speaking out on issues like women’s rights, LGBTQ+ equality, and for openly discussing sensitive topics like sex work. What really sets her apart is that she backs up her words with action and truly lives by her values.
And she definitely proved it during her latest appearance on Cosmopolitan.
Here’s why Zara Larsson has Chris Brown blocked on Spotify
While on Cosmopolitan’s “Cheap Shots” show, Zara Larsson was asked to name an artist she would never listen to.
Similar to a game of ‘Truth or Drink,’ the celebrity could have chosen to take a sip instead of revealing any names. However, she opted to be honest, and fans are now applauding her for it.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, she revealed she blocks people on Spotify who are abusive. She specifically stated that Chris Brown’s music won’t be found on any of her playlists, as she has blocked him on the platform.
Honestly, the reaction to what she did was huge. People online were seriously loving how she called out Chris Brown and other artists who’ve been accused of abuse – a lot of fans were calling her a total icon, like a ‘mother’ or ‘queen’ for standing up like that. It actually made a bunch of people even bigger fans, which is awesome to see.
The history between Zara Larsson and Chris Brown
Zara Larsson has publicly disapproved of Chris Brown before. In a 2016 game called “Song Tinder” with DASDING, she quickly rejected Kid Ink’s song featuring him, “Hotel,” by swiping left as soon as his name was mentioned.
She explained her reasons simply: she just didn’t like him. Although she admitted he was a skilled musician, she couldn’t bring herself to listen to his music because they didn’t share the same beliefs. Larsson also added that she strongly disapproves of his public negativity and disrespectful comments towards women.
So, Cosmopolitan asked me who I’d never have on my playlist, and honestly, it’s a long list of artists I’ve blocked on Spotify. Basically, anyone who’s been accused of abuse – you definitely won’t catch me listening to Chris Brown, for example. Hard pass!

The same year, a disagreement began online after Chris Brown learned that Zara Larsson wasn’t a fan of his music. In a video, Larsson explained to her followers that his greater popularity didn’t justify unkind behavior, and encouraged people to challenge it. Brown responded by publicly calling her names and making insulting remarks.
Zara Larsson is known for being outspoken and sharing what she believes in. It’s really great to see an artist be so open and honest – people genuinely appreciate it!
