People on X (formerly Twitter) have noticed that Zack Snyder’s recent post about Henry Cavill as Superman – the one he called “undeniable” – has received more likes than James Gunn’s original announcement of the Man of Tomorrow project on Instagram.
Zack Snyder’s recent post has quickly gained over 767,000 likes in only four days. This is more than the 741,000 likes James Gunn’s announcement of a ‘Man of Tomorrow’ project received back in September.
The comparison drew even more attention given the massive follower gap between the two filmmakers.

The Follower Gap Makes It Stand Out
James Gunn has around 3.8 million Instagram followers, significantly more than Zack Snyder’s 603,000 – Gunn has over six times the following.
Even though there was a difference in popularity, Snyder’s version of Superman sparked more discussion, leading to debates about where fans’ true loyalty lies within the DC universe.
The photo showed Henry Cavill wearing the iconic Superman suit originally worn by Christopher Reeve. Zack Snyder simply wrote, “Henry Cavill. The original Superman suit. This photo. It was undeniable,” emphasizing the powerful image.

Fans See A Clear Signal
On social media, fans are interpreting the viewing figures as evidence that there’s still more excitement for Zack Snyder’s Superman movies – and Henry Cavill’s portrayal of the character – than for James Gunn’s new plans for the DC Universe.
Many are pointing to the comparison as organic engagement rather than marketing-driven hype.
What started as a simple conversation about preferences has grown into a larger discussion about which era of DC Comics truly connects with fans today.

SnyderVerse “Back In Play” Claims Resurface
The timing has only amplified existing chatter.
Okay, so the buzz is getting louder – it looks like Zack Snyder’s vision for the DC Universe, what fans call the ‘SnyderVerse,’ might actually be making a comeback. The key seems to be what happens with Warner Bros. Discovery; if Paramount Skydance ends up buying them, I’m hearing that Snyder’s plans could be seriously reconsidered. It’s a developing story, but a potentially huge shift for DC fans.
We’ve learned that Zack Snyder is planning to complete his vision for the Justice League films, and most of the original actors are expected to return.
Regarding James Gunn, we’re told he will be out as head of DC Studios, no matter who buys WBD.
