Zack Snyder is revisiting his earlier work, sharing images reminiscent of his 2004 film Dawn of the Dead and tagging James Gunn, signaling a move away from focusing on the DC Universe.
Zack Snyder shared a post celebrating a proud father moment from the 2004 film Dawn of the Dead, noting that it was written by James Gunn. He called working on it a “fun time!”
This movie was Snyder’s first time directing a feature film, and Gunn wrote it long before either of them worked on DC projects.
Gunn replied to the post, “Amazing times.”

The Timing Raises Eyebrows
The post lands at an interesting moment.
I’m hearing a lot of rumors that James Gunn’s job running DC Studios might be in trouble if Warner Bros. Discovery gets bought by Netflix. It’s definitely making me a little nervous as a fan!
Although it hasn’t been officially announced, fans have noticed that James Gunn and James Snyder are highlighting their work together, and they’re closely analyzing every step both directors take.
Earlier in the year, Gunn also broke the internet when he shared a photo with Snyder (pictured).

Netflix, DC, And A Shift In Tone?
Rumors continue to suggest that Netflix might want to shift the direction of DC content. They reportedly prefer a darker, more realistic style—similar to the feel of Zack Snyder’s previous DC films, but without bringing back that specific storyline.
Recent reports indicate that if Netflix were to acquire DC properties, they’d likely focus on reimagining the overall feel and direction of the universe rather than simply reviving existing franchises.

WBD Board Rejects Paramount Skydance Bid
Recently, Warner Bros. Discovery’s board urged its shareholders to decline the unwanted takeover offer from Paramount and Skydance, suggesting that big changes are still being considered within the company.
With bidders still circling WBD, the future direction of DC remains anything but settled.
Currently, Zack Snyder sharing a post about Dawn of the Dead seems like a nostalgic throwback. However, considering recent events, fans are paying close attention, particularly whenever Snyder and James Gunn are mentioned together.
