Zack Snyder recently posted a behind-the-scenes photo of Henry Cavill from Man of Steel. The image shows a young Clark Kent working as a waiter in a bar, before he becomes Superman.
The post featured the song “This Is My World” by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL, which was used in a powerful scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice when Superman made his ultimate sacrifice. It was set as the music within the mobile app.

A Nod to the Bar Scene — and Its Music
This image references a scene from Man of Steel where Henry Cavill, as Clark Kent, is working at a bar. He’s bothered by some truck drivers, but the situation ends peacefully, though a truck is destroyed in the process.
Zack Snyder has discussed this scene from Man of Steel before, explaining that the performance by singer Allison Crowe, playing in the bar, held special personal meaning for him.
Snyder has been a fan of both Crowe and Johnny Cash for years, and had hoped to use their music in earlier films like Watchmen and Sucker Punch. She finally got the chance with Man of Steel.
I really like both Johnny Cash and Allison Crowe, so I thought bringing them together would be fantastic if we could actually get it done, he explained.
I remember him explaining that the bar fight between Superman and Ludlow wasn’t just about action. It was meant to really highlight how much Superman holds back, how he’ll take a beating without hitting back, until that one powerful moment where he finally responds – by destroying the truck, though we don’t actually see him do it. It was a symbolic thing, showing his sense of justice.

A Scene About Quiet Power
Snyder explained that the scene aimed to show both Superman’s intense anger and his underlying modesty. To achieve this, Henry Cavill, who played Superman, had to film a scene where beer was poured on him and a can was thrown at him. Snyder commented that it’s challenging to always portray such a powerful character.
Ludlow finally gets what he deserves when a huge, wrecked semi-truck ends up blocking the entrance to the bar. This event highlights Clark’s inner strength and his deliberate approach to taking action.

According to Snyder, all the things you’ve wanted to say or do to others over your lifetime can be focused into a single, powerful outburst of anger and wit when you manage your impulses.
More SnyderVerse Nostalgia
Zack Snyder continues to share images from his time directing DC films, and his newest post shows Clark Kent before he became Superman. He’s previously shared pictures of characters like Superman, Zod, Cyborg, and Knightmare Batman.
With rumors swirling about a potential return of Zack Snyder’s DC Universe following the Warner Bros. Discovery sale, fans are closely analyzing every online update for clues.
