Zack Snyder Shares Gal Gadot Wonder Woman Images After Netflix-WBD Deal

Zack Snyder shared some never-before-seen Wonder Woman photos on Instagram. These images reveal how he initially envisioned Diana’s backstory for the film Batman v Superman.

This announcement follows Netflix’s recent victory in the competition to acquire content from Warner Bros. Discovery, leading to renewed discussion about the fate of the DC cinematic universe created by Zack Snyder, often called the ‘SnyderVerse’.

Snyder clarified that the images were taken with a Leica Monochrom camera, alongside glass-plate photos by Stephen Berkman. He revealed this was the first photograph created for Batman v Superman depicting Wonder Woman—originally set during the Crimean War—before the idea was changed to the World War I setting seen in Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman.

He emphasized the images represent “the very first iteration of Diana’s history.”

I photographed alongside Stephen Berkman, using a Leica Monochrom camera and glass plate techniques. This shoot produced the original black-and-white image of Wonder Woman used in Batman v Superman. That image, initially conceived as depicting the Crimean War, later served as the foundation for the World War I version we developed for the Wonder Woman film, and represents the earliest exploration of Diana’s backstory.

First Posts Since Netflix Entered Exclusive Talks to Buy WBD

These are the first photos Snyder has released since reports surfaced that Netflix was in discussions to buy Warner Bros. Discovery.

The timing of all this has gotten fans speculating, particularly since Snyder has been sharing content related to the DC Extended Universe and his ‘Knightmare’ storyline for several weeks now.

Sources familiar with the situation say Netflix will need a steady stream of new content if it acquires Warner Bros. Discovery. This has led to speculation that Zack Snyder might return to complete his planned DC universe, the “SnyderVerse,” or potentially work on an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, a project he’s been connected with for years.

Hint of Momentum From Cast and Creators

As a huge cinema fan, I remember when Joe Manganiello really got people talking back in October. He retweeted that hashtag calling for Warner Bros. Discovery to be sold to Netflix, and it instantly reignited all the buzz around his Deathstroke character and Zack Snyder’s original, unrealized vision for the DC universe. It was like everyone started wondering again if those plans might actually happen!

People who worked on Zack Snyder’s DC films have recently been sharing older artwork and insights, bringing attention back to that original vision for the DC universe.

What Snyder’s New Images Represent

The photos Zack Snyder posted show a different backstory for Wonder Woman – a Diana from a time period before the events shown in the movies.

As a fan, seeing this stuff really makes me think Snyder might get another chance to tell his version of the story if Netflix starts doing more DC projects. It feels like a sign he could return!
