I just saw the most amazing picture Zack Snyder shared! It’s Michael Shannon as General Zod from Man of Steel, and it’s seriously powerful. It really takes me back to that era of the DCEU.
Zack Snyder shared a photo and wrote a short message about Michael Shannon. He said he’ll find him, and that Shannon really got the character of Zod – understood him completely, inside and out. It was clear how much respect Snyder has for Shannon’s performance.
The striking black-and-white portrait captures Shannon’s powerful performance as Superman’s iconic enemy, a standout role in the DC Extended Universe.

Michael Shannon Looks Back On Man of Steel
Michael Shannon has recently been reflecting on his role as Zod and the impact of Man of Steel.
In a November interview with Vanity Fair, Shannon explained the reasoning behind the divisive ending of the film, where Superman has to kill Zod to protect others.
He admitted the scene caused some discussion, but expressed his pride in being involved with Snyder’s vision and said he had a good experience making the movie.

Shannon noted that Zack Snyder deliberately created a scenario forcing Superman to make a difficult, no-win choice. Shannon also expressed his enjoyment of working with Snyder and appreciated the innovative creative process.
According to actor Michael Shannon, a major point of debate surrounding the film was Superman killing someone. Shannon explained that the director, Zack Snyder, intentionally created a scenario where Superman had to choose between letting people die and killing Shannon’s character, which he ultimately did. This decision, Shannon noted, caused a lot of controversy and discussion.
He shared that he thoroughly enjoyed working with Zack and being a part of the film. He acknowledged that some people might assume he only took the role for the money, but he’s genuinely proud of the movie and believes it has a meaningful message.
