As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for popular culture, I must say that the news of Yvette Nicole Brown reprising her role as Shirley Bennett in the Community movie is nothing short of exhilarating! With a career spanning decades and numerous roles on some of television’s most beloved shows, Brown has proven herself to be an indispensable part of the small screen landscape.

Yvette Nicole Brown has affirmed that she’ll return to her character in the forthcoming Community film. In an interview with Parade, she expressed excitement as she declared, “The Peacock project is definitely happening!” Despite some setbacks, the anticipated sequel to the beloved sitcom will reunite many of its original stars for a thrilling new journey.

Despite some hesitation among fans due to delays, every new announcement about cast members coming back is proving to be a positive development, making the wait an enjoyable experience. Recently, it was confirmed that Yvette Nicole Brown, who portrayed Shirley Bennett – a single mother pursuing education at Greendale Community College – will indeed reappear in the upcoming movie.

During a chat with Parade concerning her fresh podcast titled Squeezed, Brown was inquired about a possible Community film comeback. With enthusiasm, she acknowledged her return to play Shirley and hinted at the production’s certainty, stating that the movie will materialize despite setbacks in filming.

According to Brown, they shared with Parade, “It’s definitely happening! The specific timeline isn’t set yet, but I am fully committed. This could be exciting news since it was uncertain for a long time if this would occur. Originally planned for June, the plans had to change due to the [SAG-AFTRA] strike that took place last year.”

Despite Peacock not formally confirming her comeback, there have been subtle indications suggesting Brown’s involvement. As early as this year, Ken Jeong dropped hints about her return. Similarly, fans had to wait quite some time to learn that Donald Glover would rejoin the project, which was eventually confirmed a year and a half following the initial announcement.

In September 2022, Peacock officially announced the return of the main cast from the movie “Community”, including Joel McHale as Jeff, Gillian Jacobs as Britta, Alison Brie as Annie, Donald Glover as Troy, Danny Pudi as Abed, and Jim Rash as Dean Pelton.

The storyline revolves around a university reunion at Greendale, featuring Abed, who has become a renowned filmmaker. Initially slated to begin filming in June 2023, production had to be postponed following the Hollywood strikes that took place last year.

In six seasons of the series Community, which initially aired on NBC in 2009 and later moved to Yahoo! Screen for its final season, Brown played Shirley. However, she only made appearances in the opening episode and finale of Season 6. Other TV roles undertaken by Brown include The Odd Couple, Big Shot, Mom, and The Mayor.

Even with setbacks, Brown’s upbeat attitude mirrors the optimism of her fellow actors. It was recently revealed by Joel McHale that the film has secured sufficient financing and could potentially start filming next year.
