As a dedicated follower of Yuki Kikuchi’s work, I can confidently say that his unique storytelling and heartwarming characters have left an indelible mark on me. His life experiences, particularly his role as an animator in renowned series like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Stone Ocean, clearly influence the depth and vibrancy of his work.
On August 22, it was announced by Oricon Bookstore that Yuki Kikuchi’s “100-nichi go ni Shinu Wani” will be receiving a sequel titled “100-Nichi Go ni Shinu Nezumi.” Kikuchi began the series on August 21 through his X account, and since then, he has been regularly posting a new four-panel page each day on this platform.
The comic book titled “100-nichi go ni Shinu Wani” narrates the final 100 days of an alligator’s life, during which he enjoys time with his friends and work associates. Starting from December 2019, Kikuchi serialized this manga in installments. Each day, a fresh four-panel chapter was shared on Twitter (now X).
Initially, author Kikuchi self-published his manga on Twitter in December 2019. Once published, it gained widespread popularity and spread like wildfire across Japan, earning thousands of likes for each new chapter. He continued sharing the chapters until its completion in March 2020.
In April 2020, Shougakukan published a book containing all the chapters that Kikuchi had shared on Twitter. Originally, an anime film called “100 Nichikan Ikita Wani” (which means ‘A Crocodile Who Lived For 100 Days’) produced by TIA was set to be released in May 2021. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had to be moved to July 2021.
In the original manga, we find Wani (voiced by Ryuunosuke Kamiki), Inu (voiced by First Summer Uika), Nezumi (voiced by Tomoya Nakamura), Kaeru (voiced by Yuuki Yamada), Baito-chan (voiced by Kurumi Shimizu), and Mogura (voiced by Subaru Kimura. These are the main characters, each lending their voice to the roles they play.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming installment in this captivating series will continue in the spirit of its predecessor, delving into Nezumi’s life and escapades 100 days prior to his untimely demise. Regrettably, we don’t have all the details just yet, as the author has kept the plot of the sequel manga under wraps for now. Stay tuned for more revelations!
