‘You’re Not Fun’: Chappell Roan Calls Out VIP Section For Not Taking Part In Hot To Go! Dance At Outside Lands Festival

As a dedicated follower of Chappell Roan, I can’t help but be in awe of this fiery, fearless, and fabulous artist! Her performances are not just about music; they’re about connecting with her audience, creating memories, and encouraging everyone to let loose and have fun.

Chappell Roan, famously known as Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, is renowned for maintaining audience interaction! During the first anniversary celebration of her song “Hot to Go!” at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music Festival on August 11, the performer singled out a group who declined to join in the dance routine: the VIP area.

Following the dance lesson based on the “Y.M.C.A.” rhythm, Roan observed that the VIP section’s involvement seemed to be low.

“She found it strange that VIP acted as if they were above doing this,” she shared with the vast audience (approximately 50,000 people, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, while live streaming footage was being shown).

“You’re not fun!” the star yelled as the crowd cheered. “Be fun and try!”

In Roan’s performances, audience members often join in with the dance, which is a regular element, similar to how Taylor Swift’s fans exchange friendship bracelets at her shows. The popular artist, Swift, made “Hot to Go!” a key part of her performance at Golden Gate Park when she celebrated the anniversary of its release. This song was first released as a single on August 11, 2023, from her debut album titled “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.”

1. Wearing a leotard reminiscent of a marching band and shimmering like a disco ball, she captivated the crowd just as she did in the music video. Previously at other events, Roan didn’t shy away from addressing the audience on stage, and this was no exception.

At the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago on August 1st, the singer captivated the audience with her song “My Kink Is Karma,” even referencing an old boyfriend. For those who may not be familiar, Chappell’s music explores queer experiences – from painful heartaches to joyful encounters of love and intimacy.

Her clever lyrics and catchy tunes guide listeners on explorations through various scenarios such as relationships, heartbreaks, and even witnessing an ex receiving their deserved karma. At just 17, Roan secured a major-label deal with Atlantic Records, paving the way for her rise to success and acclaim.
