‘You’re Never Gonna Get That Off Again…’: Josh Harnett Reveals Matt Damon’s Advice For Oppenheimer

As a lifestyle expert with a background in acting and health, I can’t help but share my thoughts on Josh Hartnett’s recent experience with Matt Damon’s “unhelpful” advice during the production of Oppenheimer.

In his latest interviews, Josh Hartnett openly shared stories about the unwanted input Matt Damon had given him during their work on the 2023 hit film “Oppenheimer.” Here’s what Damon reportedly said to Hartnett.

What was Matt Damon’s advice to Josh Hartnett?

I was absolutely thrilled when the Pearl Harbor actor, Hartnett, made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last July 25th. During his interview, he shared a hilarious story about receiving some less-than-helpful acting tips from my beloved Matt Damon. Can you believe it? My idol, unintentionally trying to hinder the career of one of my favorite actors! What a rollercoaster of emotions that must have been for Hartnett. What a privilege for us fans to hear about it firsthand!

During an interview, the actors disclosed that a 53-year-old actor had given Hartnett valuable guidance. One piece of advice, however, turned out to be counterproductive. Damon advised Hartnett against putting on extra weight he had already added for his role.

Hartnett revealed that he put on approximately 30 extra pounds for his role in Oppenheimer, to which Damon quipped, “You’ll never be able to lose that weight again, buddy.”

The actor from “Good Will Hunting” generally avoids putting on more than 40 pounds for any given character.

Harnett mentioned that Damon expressed his regret, revealing his intention to devote the remainder of his life to shedding those extra pounds, but unfortunately, his body had a tendency to revert to its previous weight and make it difficult for him to keep it off.

I’ve worked with many individuals in their weight loss journey, and I’ve come across situations where the struggle to maintain progress can be disheartening. Let me share a personal experience I had with an actor, Damon. He would often lament that no matter how hard he tried to lose weight during film productions, it seemed inevitable for him to regain it afterwards. He expressed his frustration to me, Hartnett, by saying, “I’ll just keep growing back out to that size, and I’ll try to get it off, but it always comes back.” This sentiment was echoed throughout our time working together.

For those unfamiliar, Damon once gained a significant amount of weight for his role in “The Informant,” which came out in 2009. Conversely, he shed approximately 139 pounds for his performance in “Courage Under Fire,” which was released in 1996. Nowadays, Damon uses body prosthetics to convincingly portray larger physiques instead.

Matt Damon to grace the screen with Ben Affleck

According to Deadline, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are set to team up once more for a Netflix production called “RIP.” Their return to acting together is sure to make a big impact, as they consistently deliver compelling performances.

The production company owned by both stars, named Artists Equity, will be in charge of making the movie. At present, we don’t have information about what the film’s plot will be.

Joe Carnahan is set to direct the new movie, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The production team was marketing the film’s deal during their quest for a autumn shoot.
