In the upcoming Marvel animated series, “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” it has been revealed that Colman Domingo will be playing a role, based on footage recently displayed at D23 Expo.
Colman Domingo has been confirmed to give voice to the character Norman Osborn, who is well-known as Spider-Man’s villain, The Green Goblin. This show narrates a tale about Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Peter Parker prior to his encounter with Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War.
In the upcoming series, Hudson Thames, known for his role as Spider-Man in Marvel’s What If…?, will reprise his part as Peter Parker. Earlier, there were rumors about who might voice the character, between him and Tom Holland, but now it’s clear that it’s Thames who will continue to bring the iconic superhero to life for fans.
At the D23 Expo, footage emerged showing Peter Parker at school. During this clip, Doctor Strange opened a portal and Peter transformed into Spider-Man. Later on, Norman Osborn was seen backing him up, acting as his ‘computer mastermind’, suggesting he can access or manipulate any digital system.
Collider’s report reveals a scene where Doctor Strange (portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch) unexpectedly enters class, as the voice of Peter Parker (Thomas’ character), informs viewers he was disrupted at school. This leads to a transition showing how Peter transformed into Spider-Man. The footage initiates with Peter Parker on his first day at Midtown High School.
Out of nowhere, a massive gateway appears, revealing a monstrous figure within. Doctor Strange intervenes to save Peter from imminent death. Subsequently, Peter encounters a spider and gets bitten. Later on, Peter dons a homemade suit and confronts two technologically-advanced villains, with Osborn orchestrating events from behind the scenes.
Willem Dafoe portrayed the memorable character of Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy but didn’t appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) until the film Spider-Man: No Way Home. Since Dafoe’s version of Norman Osborn was not part of the MCU, Domingo gets to delve into a fresh relationship between Peter Parker and Norman Osborn.
The show will combine elements from Spider-Man’s early comic book stories with his development in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly leading up to his debut in Captain America: Civil War. However, this series unfolds in a different universe where Peter Parker is tutored by Norman Osborn rather than Tony Stark.
In this upcoming show, you’ll see famous characters such as Lonnie Lincoln, Nico Minoru, and Harry Osborn, along with guest appearances by Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. These notable figures are set to collaborate in thrilling team-ups.
On November 2nd, Disney+ will broadcast Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in the United States.
