Navigating the diverse ecosystems of Monster Hunter Wilds may prove challenging, particularly when elusive native creatures like Dapperwings seamlessly blend with their surroundings, making them hard to spot.
You’ll encounter some tiny bird-resembling beings as part of several tasks assigned for research side missions. This assignment comes from Researcher Samin stationed at the Windward Plains Base Camp, a location you can access once you finish Chapter 4-1 and advance to High Rank.

Dapperwing location in Monster Hunter Wilds
Dapperwings are common across the Scarlet Forest, but if you want to avoid exploring the entire map, I recommend checking out the Sector 12 ruins. That’s where we’ve noticed they appear most frequently.
You can either quickly make your way to the temporary campsite nearby or allow your Secret Navigation system to guide you directly to Sector 12 and the particular spot denoted on the following map. Choose one of these options for your journey.

If you reach the right spot, you’ll notice a cluster of run-down human structures and multiple Dapperwings resting on the walls. Here’s an illustration to help guide you.
You’ll be at the correct location when you spot a small, worn-out collection of man-made buildings with several Dapperwings sitting on the walls as decorations. The image below provides a clear depiction of your destination.

In the game of Monster Hunter Wilds, capturing a Dapperwing is much like capturing other small creatures; it’s quite simple using these steps:
- Equip your Capture Net to the active slot of your quick-use menu.
- Aim the net at a Dapperwing using LT or Right-Click.
- Fire the Capture Net using RT or F.

You’ll recognize that the Capture Net is within range of your target when its HUD glows orange. This indicates that the selected Dapperwing will be automatically captured and contribute towards Guild Points. For Samin’s Research, capturing just one Dapperwing will suffice, but you’ll earn more Guild Points based on the number of Dapperwings you capture instead.
