In the universe of Chainsaw Man, devils are a type of supernatural entities found worldwide. They originate from Hell and gain names that reflect real-life fears. Their manifestations are influenced by the collective anxieties tied to their names. When a devil dies in Hell, it resurfaces on Earth, and conversely, when one perishes on Earth, it returns to Hell, rendering them essentially immortal, but they can’t recall past lives. Here, we will list the most powerful devils in Chainsaw Man based on their strength.
15. Tomato Devil
Our list of powerful Devils from Chainsaw Man kicks off with the Tomato Devil. The Tomato Devil boasts a large, round red body, numerous eyes, and an upturned mouth. He moves about using his multiple arms, which function as legs. There isn’t much information available about the Tomato Devil’s character, but it can be assumed that, like other non-humanoid demons, he harbors a strong animosity towards humans.
In a residential area, a being known as the Tomato Devil was strolling along when Denji, accompanied by Pochita, confronted and eliminated him. Later, Denji informed his employer about the Tomato Devil’s unique capabilities, stating that it should be torched to prevent its return from its seeds. It seems that this creature can regenerate from its own seeds, hence the need for burning.
14. Blood Devil
A more casual rephrasing could be: Blood-Devil, or Power, is petty, greedy, and primarily driven by self-interest. She often engages in fights where she believes she will emerge victorious and has no qualms about retreating when faced with an opponent who seems stronger. Additionally, she enjoys boasting about her superiority over other Devil hunters, partly due to her unique status as a half-Devil, half-human.
To elaborate, Blood Devil shows no loyalty to mankind, freely stating that anyone is acceptable to her. She is known for being blunt and negligent, feeling that those around her should tidy up after herself. In fact, she admits to seldom bathing or flushing the toilet, viewing humans as overly concerned with hygiene. Blood Devil is also a habitual liar and has no qualms about spreading gossip or discussing her friends negatively when they are not present.
Power has an unquenchable appetite for control; she doesn’t discern between pork, beef, or human flesh, as she is prepared to consume them all, regardless of their source, be it from a living being or a zombie. Conversely, she detests vegetables and dismisses them if they appear in her food.
Despite being incredibly self-centered, Power found herself capable of empathy towards her pet for the first time, prioritizing it over her usual cravings for blood and death. This shift in behavior was evident when Nyako was taken captive, prompting her to take action for another’s wellbeing. However, Power met an unfortunate end during the Control Devil arc of the Chainsaw Man manga.
13. Eternity Devil
At the heart of the Eternal Fiend lies a structure resembling an “8,” featuring a pair of eyes and mouths on each side, along with two central mouths. This fiend has the ability to materialize within its own body as a continuous flow of flesh, formed from multiple arms and heads that merge together.
Over an extended period, the Eternity Fiend starts out seemingly insignificant and feeble, but swiftly gains strength. This fiend derives pleasure from the terror and distress of others, cackling maliciously as Kobeni shows signs of fear and passes out. He is not averse to striking bargains with humans in order to attain his objectives.
12. Shark Devil (Beam)
The Shark Devil (Beam) is quite unorthodox in his behavior. He tends to back Denji’s schemes, even the wildly impractical ones, because he holds the Chainsaw Devil in high esteem. Rather than correcting Denji when he misunderstood how to utilize his chainsaw skills for enhanced mobility, Beam instead supported Denji’s misguided idea.
As a passionate movie critic, let me share my thoughts on the gripping action flick titled “Shark Devil.” This fearsome hero takes immense pleasure in engaging in brutal combat, and leaps headfirst into hordes of undead adversaries with unparalleled enthusiasm, devouring them ruthlessly.
Initially, Shark Devil displayed a chilling level of apprehension when faced with the formidable Bomb Devil. This fear was so palpable that he even considered retreating from the battlefield. However, when cornered, this courageous character showed no signs of hesitation and bravely attempted to engage in hand-to-hand combat against his adversary.
In essence, Shark Devil’s journey is a thrilling exploration of fear, survival, and resilience, making it a must-watch for any action movie enthusiast.
11. Violence Devil (Galgali)
Moving forward, one of the most formidable Devils in Chainsaw Man is known as the Violence Devil. Contrary to his violent title, this devil is incredibly courteous and straightforward. After defeating Beam in self-defense, he even apologized, and when he mistakenly took the Spider Devil for a human woman, he politely asked her to leave the area. This behavior is unusual for a devil because the Violence Devil still retains much of his human brain. He confesses that he values peace and love, and has vivid memories of his past life as a human. He mentions that he cannot eat due to his mask, but he takes pleasure in indulging others, as he can experience food indirectly by observing their reactions to it.
10. Bomb Devil (Reze)
Reze, also known as Bomb Devil, has the ability to trigger an explosion and assume a hybrid form by releasing a pin on her necklace, similar to a grenade. She can also execute this action, but rather than merely transforming, the Bomb Devil detonates its own head and creates a decoy of itself to mislead adversaries away from her true location. This deceptive figure is capable of holding its own head and hurling it.
As a passionate moviegoer, I’d rephrase that action-packed description as follows:
In the realm of my favorite characters, Reze possesses an extraordinary ability. She can essentially blow herself up, or rather, she can detonate portions of her arms for explosive effect, enhancing her physical attacks. This isn’t your typical explosion, though; she can literally tear these parts off and then set them ablaze, creating a powerful blast. But that’s not all; she can also launch these explosives by simply snapping them out of her hands.
Now, here’s where things get really interesting. Enter Bomb Devil. This character has the power to transform Reze’s explosive limbs into torpedoes, making her punches and kicks pack an even greater punch. It’s like turning up the volume on a high-octane action scene!
In my film review perspective, let me tell you that character Reze possesses an extraordinary ability – spontaneous detonations at her disposal, which not only propels her forward with immense force but also creates a path for her aerial maneuvers. This explosive prowess grants her an unprecedented level of resilience, making her immune to even the mightiest kick from the Violence Devil without so much as a scratch. As a unique hybrid entity, Reze exhibits a remarkable healing factor; she can replenish her vitality by ingesting blood and astonishingly regrow lost limbs, such as her severed leg, after consuming blood from the Typhoon Devil.
9. Curse Devil
Upon being called forth, the Curse Fiend materializes as a colossal, two-headed skeleton sporting horns. One head resembles a human, whereas the other has three slits for eyes and elongated teeth. This fiend possesses clawed hands and a vast, swollen chest cavity. In the shadows, it appears as ominous dark lips, or when speaking to someone, it reveals itself as an enormously gaping maw.
If the contractor uses her nails to repeatedly attack her target, the Demon of Curses will appear, grasp the target’s arms in an overlapping manner, and inflict fatal injuries on them by biting their shoulders and neck, as well as squeezing their limbs.
8. Ghost Devil
The Mighty Spectral Fiend boasts immense bodily power; a single one of his many appendages could deliver such a powerful blow to Aki that he’d lose his sword and find himself lifted off the ground by the neck, being choked unconscious. He possesses the ability to become invisible, allowing him to grasp the Eternity Devil without anyone noticing it using his right arm.
1. The Ghost Devil’s physical form is partially ethereal, making it hard for others to touch it, but specific tools can slice through it. This devil lacks eyes, instead sensing fear, though this trait may sometimes work against him because he won’t detect an approaching person if they aren’t afraid. As a devil, the Ghost Devil has the ability to offer contracts to humans at a cost.
2. The Ghost Devil’s body is only tangible in certain spots, which makes it difficult for others to touch it; nonetheless, specific weapons can cut right through it. This devil doesn’t have eyes, but relies on fear as a means of perception. Unfortunately, this can lead to him missing an approaching person if they aren’t afraid. As a devil, the Ghost Devil is capable of offering contracts to humans in exchange for a fee.
3. The Ghost Devil’s body is semi-intangible, making it hard for others to touch it, but special tools can pierce it. Unlike other devils, it doesn’t have eyes, instead relying on fear to perceive its surroundings. However, this can sometimes work against it, as it won’t sense an approaching person if they aren’t afraid. As a devil, the Ghost Devil can offer contracts to humans at a price.
4. The Ghost Devil’s body is selectively intangible, making it hard for others to touch it; however, certain tools can penetrate it. Unlike other devils, this one lacks eyes and instead senses through fear. Unfortunately, this can backfire, as it won’t detect an approaching person if they aren’t afraid. As a devil, the Ghost Devil has the power to make contracts with humans for a price.
5. The Ghost Devil’s body is only partly tangible, making it hard for others to touch it; nonetheless, specific tools can cut through it. Unlike other devils, this one doesn’t have eyes but senses fear instead. Unfortunately, this can lead to him missing an approaching person if they aren’t afraid. As a devil, the Ghost Devil has the ability to make contracts with humans for a fee.
I’ve entered into an agreement with Himeno, where I’ve given him my right eye in return. Now, he possesses the ability to wield the mighty arm of the Ghost Devil, which remains with me perpetually. As I continue to offer more pieces of myself, I can temporarily harness the complete power of the Ghost Devil’s body for a limited time.
In the role of a demon, the Phantom Demon possesses the ability to replenish its vitality by feeding on blood. Upon being slain, the Phantom Demon will be resurrected within the depths of Hell, thereby achieving an eternal existence.
7. Gun Devil
Up next on our list of formidable Chainsaw Man devils is the Gun Devil. This devil is exceptionally swift, managing to take the lives of over 1.2 million people across various nations within mere minutes. Its speed is so rapid that portions of its flesh ignite and disintegrate from its body. The Gun Devil possesses the ability to rapidly and precisely fire bullets from an assortment of weapons integrated into its own physique.
He has the ability to fire a bullet accurately enough to hit the vital organs of any creature born between January and December (except April, October, and July), as well as to kill any adult male within approximately 1,000 meters, children under 12 years old, and any living being within roughly 1,500 meters.
The Speed-and-Power Bullet Demon can shed his own tissue, looking like bullets due to its rapidity and potency. When any sort of Demons swallow fragments of the Bullet Demon’s flesh, the Bullet Demon’s power significantly amplifies. These bullet fragments magnetically draw toward each other, merging when they touch, and strive to reunite with the Bullet Demon’s main body for regeneration.
According to Makima’s explanation, the body of Gun Devil has been split into multiple fragments and is now in a comatose condition. Twenty percent of his body is held by the United States, while the Soviet Union possesses twenty-eight percent. China holds eleven percent, four percent is controlled by various other countries, and the remaining thirty-seven percent is scattered globally among Devils similar to chunks of meat.
6. Cosmos Devil (Cosmo)
Cosmo, also known as Cosmos Devil, seldom shows a range of emotions beyond his constant smile and tranquil appearance. Apart from occasionally uttering the word “Halloween,” he remains silent. Like the other girlfriends of Quanxi, he appears to be infatuated with her, follows her closely, and seems to be under her control.
In the interaction between Cosmo and the Master, it’s as if a different aspect of Cosmo emerges during their discussion, suggesting this could be her true character. Even though she maintains her cheerful disposition, she exhibits a more composed and articulate demeanor, discussing ongoing events with the Master. It’s possible that Cosmo’s shallow personality associated with Halloween stems from her powers influencing herself in some way, preventing her from thinking about anything else.
5. Angel Devil
Unique among the multitude of Devils, this particular being – often referred to as the Angel-Devil – exhibits an unusual trait: he does not harbor hatred towards humans. Contrary to his demonic image, he declares that people should perish in torment and identifies himself more as a malevolent spirit than a benevolent angel. However, there’s a twist: at one point, he consoles a dying woman and grants her a peaceful departure from life. The Angel-Devil is an enigma, showing no desire to exist and expressing a preference for death over any form of labor.
After discovering that Aki only has a few years left to live, Angel expresses envy and mentions her desire to die soon as well, since “while you’re still alive, you must expend your energy, but when you pass away, you can finally rest.” As death approaches, Angel Devil implores Aki to allow her to die, stating that she has been preparing for this moment for a long time.
He detests being given commands and appears averse to combat too, opting instead to move an unconscious foe elsewhere. If compelled to engage in battle, he exhibited hesitation in employing his abilities and expressed remorse towards those whose lives he utilized to forge weapons. Angel has a fondness for creamy ice desserts but is open to consuming diverse fare, such as zombie tissue and the remains of other demons.
This version maintains the original’s meaning while using more natural language and making it easier to read.
4. Hell Devil
In his form as the Fiendish Handler, he may materialize as an enormous hand with six digits, appearing through a gateway linking Heaven to one of numerous gates in the underworld. This portal gives him the power to escort specific souls to the underworld. Notably, this enigmatic figure can also retrieve victims from Hell and return them to the human realm.
The Fiendish One recovers his vitality by drinking blood, being a devil. After losing his head at the hands of the Chain Saw Demon, another demon hunter administered his blood to him, causing the Chain Saw Demon to be banished to Hell. The Fiendish One has the ability to return to life in Hell following death, which makes him essentially immortal.
3. Control Devil (Makima)
Our Chainsaw Man Devils list has narrowed down to the top 3, and things are starting to get intense. Makima, the Control Devil, exudes a mix of seriousness and calmness, making her demeanor both soothing and authoritative. She communicates the current situation in a measured, composed manner, avoiding any signs of excitement. With Denji, she often adopts a sympathetic tone, creating a comforting atmosphere around him. However, beneath this gentle exterior lies a shrewd and manipulative mind.
I yield to Denji under the allure of a romantic and intimate bond, while constantly reminding him of the dire consequences should I not be obeyed – annihilation. It’s evident that Desire Devil yearns for dominance and is prepared to go to great lengths to seize it. She exhibits a ruthless nature, ready to jeopardize lives and inflict harm on the innocent if it serves her interests.
Makima is deeply enamored with the character known as Chainsaw Man, often referred to as the “demonic hero.” Her fascination lies in his unique power to consume and dispel the embodiment of devils when he eats them. She openly declared her ambition to have Chainsaw Man under her command, intending to use his powers to construct a utopian world free from fears. If she fails, she believes that being consumed by Chainsaw Man would be an immense honor for her, as she perceives it as joining the ranks of the Chainsaw Devil.
In reality, Makima’s hidden desire was to spend eternity with Pochita and enjoy a contented life together. This longing stemmed from her inability to forge balanced relationships similar to him, such as her own Control Devil, and her yearning for something akin to a family.
2. Darkness Devil
One particularly grisly and unsettling appearance that stands out in Chainsaw Man belongs to the character known as Darkness Devil.
The Darkness Devil’s form consists of multiple human bodies linked together. Two bodies function as his legs, while four other bodies make up his torso. Each torso body has a distinct face: the one directly under the neck lacks eyes, nose, and sports a long, vertical mouth; the second head has open eyes but its mouth is sewn shut; the third head has no nose, an open mouth, and sewn-shut eyes; and the fourth has no eyes and maintains a constant frowning expression.
His head resembles that of a pterodactyl, complete with curved horns, and his body is the first human’s, with arms extended as if holding a shroud of darkness. Regrettably, not much is known about this Darkness Devil, only that he attacks anyone who seems threatening to him and that he ranks among the most powerful of the Chainsaw Man’s Devils.
1. Chainsaw Devil
The Chainsaw Devil, number one on our list of powerful Chainsaw Man entities, is the one we’re talking about. Denji, who grew up in extreme poverty and lacked proper education and nurturing as a child, can sometimes appear brash and uncouth due to his circumstances. However, beneath this rough exterior lies a strong sense of empathy for others, as he frequently puts himself in harm’s way to rescue those in need, demonstrating his fundamentally kind nature despite his imperfections.
Although Chainsaw Devon may not be the most intelligent being, he has a knack for devising cunning tactics to outsmart other Devils. For instance, once he ignited himself and utilized the light to weaken Santa Claus enough to eliminate her. Now that Denji is a Public Security Devil Hunter and his essential needs are catered to, he’s uncertain about his life goals, worried that the realization of his dreams will fade away, leaving him devoid of empathy, connections, and emotions.
Over the course of our movie-watching experience, it’s hard not to notice how deeply troubled Denji seems to be, yearning for affection and reciprocation in return. In an attempt to deal with his emotional turmoil, he finds himself clinging to Makima, using their relationship as a crutch. He even goes so far as to express a strange desire to be her pet without understanding the implications. This psychological imbalance drives him to make a resolution: instead of killing Makima, he vows to merge with her, to surrender and overcome her.
