Fandango has unveiled a new version of its “Top 10” rankings, with “Jurassic World Rebirth” taking the number one spot after “Captain America: Brave New World.” (In this case, “unveiled” and “rankings” are used instead of “released” and “list” for a more conversational tone.)
Captain America: Brave New World was at #1
Back in December, Fandango revealed its list of the top 10 most anticipated movies of 2025.
Leading the pack was “Captain America: Brave New World”, which unfortunately flopped badly at the box office. Despite this, it remains the top-grossing movie globally in 2025 (excluding Ne Zha 2 from China), but the $400 million earnings don’t paint a rosy picture since they indicate low attendance at the theater.
Jurassic World Rebirth takes the top summer spot
Three months on, Fandango has unveiled their list of the ten most eagerly awaited summer movies.
1st place goes to “Jurassic World: Rebirth”, climbing from 3rd position. In 2nd place, we find “Fantastic Four”, moving up from 5th in the last survey. Taking the 3rd spot is “Mission: Impossible”, sliding down one spot from 2nd. The 4th position is filled by “James Gunn’s Superman”, making a significant leap from 9th. (In my own poll, Cosmic Book News readers overwhelmingly chose Gunn’s Superman.) Completing the list at #5 is “Thunderbolts”, which was not included in the previous ranking.
Completing the sequence: Ballerina positions at #6, it’s 28 Years Later at #7, How to Train Your Dragon follows at #8, Lilo & Stitch is at #9, and Freaky Friday appears at #10.
Or more casually:
Ballerina slots in at position 6, we move on to 28 Years Later at position 7, then it’s How To Train Your Dragon at position 8, Lilo & Stitch at position 9, and Freaky Friday rounds off the list at position 10.
As a dedicated cinephile, I’ve learned from Fandango that they surveyed over 5,000 individuals, all of whom had purchased at least one cinema ticket since the start of 2024.
