Netflix recently unveiled a sneak peek at the much-awaited fifth and concluding installment of “You!” Actor Penn Badgley reprises his role as Joe Goldberg. It appears that this time around, he has either found a new romantic interest or potential victim in Kate Lockwood, played by Charlotte Ritchie.
The trailer opens as Joe begins speaking, “Love pushes us to our limits, and I’ve been pushed beyond what many have experienced.” He asserts that his relationship with Kate, who becomes his wife in the fifth season, will be his final one. Joe recounts how he transformed from poverty to prosperity in both life and love following their encounter.
Based on the trailer, it’s clear that Kate is from an affluent upbringing. Initially, Joe might have looked down upon her due to his negative perceptions about wealthy aristocrats. Yet, she provided opportunities for him that he had never even dreamed of.
He remarks, ‘I never thought I’d be the most fortunate man in New York,’ but with his unsettling behavior, Joe Goldberg certainly earns the title of the creepiest resident in town.” From the trailer, it appears that his character remains as devious and manipulative as he was during the first season.
The summary states that Joe Goldberg moves back to New York City, seeking a fresh start, but finds himself in danger from both his past and inner temptations. Will he ultimately face the consequences of his brutal actions, perhaps receiving retribution or at least suffering some form of punishment for the lives he so ruthlessly ended?
