‘You Never Know If…’: Sofía Vergara Reacts To Joe Manganiello Denying They Split Over Disagreement On Having Kids

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the saga between Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello is quite intriguing. Their divorce, after seven years of marriage, has left many scratching their heads due to conflicting narratives about the reasons behind it.

It’s been more than half a year since Sofia Vergara, known for her role in Modern Family, and Joe Manganiello finalized their divorce after seven years of marriage. Lately, Manganiello has stated that the disagreement about having children wasn’t the cause of their split, leaving Vergara uncertain about her ex-husband’s statements.

During a chat with Variety on August 14th, Vergara expressed, “To be honest, it’s unclear if what he supposedly said is true. I’ve read many quotes attributed to me that left me thinking, ‘Really? Should I reach out?’ I’m not even sure if he actually made those remarks.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: Back in January, I, Griselda, shared with Spanish newspaper El País that my marriage to Manganiello ended due to differences over having children. To set the record straight, our split was largely influenced by the age gap between us. He desired to start a family, and I preferred not to become a mother at an advanced age.

At the age of 19, Vergara welcomed her son Manolo with her former partner Joe Gonzalez. Now, he is 32 years old. She expressed that while she admires older mothers, she has no desire to become one herself at the age of 50. In her own words, “I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m more eager to be a grandmother than a mother.”

In a July interview with Men’s Journal, Manganiello disputed Vergara’s statements about their divorce. He explained that during the first year and a half of their marriage, they had attempted to start a family together. According to him, they had an important conversation about children early on in their relationship. If Vergara was not interested in having kids, Manganiello said he would understand. However, he clarified that this was not the case with her, and he had promised her he wouldn’t leave if things didn’t work out, which he didn’t.

“He stated that being portrayed as if I underwent a midlife crisis and, after nine years, I demanded someone to do something risky to their health, saying ‘Do this questionable act or I’ll leave’, is not in line with my character. That’s never been who I am.”

In 2015, Vergara got married to a 47-year-old actor following a six-month courtship in Palm Beach, Florida. However, after seven years of marriage, they announced their separation in July 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. Their divorce was finalized in February 2024. Before their split, an exclusive source revealed to Us Weekly that the couple had been living apart.

As a dedicated follower reporting on their personal lives, I’d rephrase it like this: By the time our beloved celebrities, Vergara and Manganiello, were finalizing their divorce, they had each moved on romantically. In December 2023, Manganiello made his red carpet debut alongside actor Caitlin O’Connor, while three months earlier in October, Vergara was spotted with her new boyfriend, orthopedic physician Justin Saliman.
