‘You Make Me a Better Person’: Amy Adams’ Emotional Tribute to Her Daughter at TIFF Will Melt Your Heart

As a dedicated follower of Amy Adams‘ career, I must say that her journey through Hollywood and beyond has been nothing short of inspiring. Her latest project, “Nightbitch,” seems to encapsulate her dedication to roles that delve deep into the human condition, particularly motherhood and personal identity.

2024’s Toronto International Film Festival, held in Toronto, Canada on September 8, recognized and celebrated talent across film, arts, and entertainment industries. Notably, actress Amy Adams received the Tribute Performer Award during the event, delivering a heartfelt acceptance speech following her win.

She made a touching and beautiful mention to her daughter and said “You make me not only a better mother, but a better person,” she said. “Every day you challenge me.” as per Deadline.

The touching words were spoken to her 14-year-old daughter Aviana, who made her official red carpet debut last night amid the world premiere of Nightbitch at the festival

In her upcoming movie, Adams portrays a suburban mother about to break down, who mysteriously starts turning into a dog. This role aligns with the honor she received at the festival for its thematic resonance.

Amy Adams discussed her movie Nightbitch, explaining that it explores themes such as motherhood, parenthood, solitude, self-discovery, connections, and community.

She went on to express that it was a privilege for her to work alongside a fantastic group of colleagues during the event. She also acknowledged Matthew Greenfield from Searchlight Pictures, as well as her team of robust and capable female producers numbering six.

In closing, Adams acknowledged a significant debt to Rachel Yoder, the writer of Nightbitch, as well as commended Marielle Heller for her direction. He emphasized that Heller was the ideal choice to breathe life into the film following the book.

“Marielle you challenge us with topics that seem taboo but are universal. You’re my kind of bitch, Marielle.” she jokingly added.

In a conversation with PEOPLE, the actress from The Arrival expressed her enthusiasm about attending the upcoming event because this would be the first occasion where her daughter would accompany her at a screening to back her up.

Regarding the film, a well-known actor collaborated with twelve canines on set. In the course of filming a particular scene, these dogs became agitated and charged towards Adams. This movie is slated for release in theaters on December 6th.
