Since the conclusion of “WandaVision” in 2021, we haven’t caught up with the android Avenger, Vision, played by Paul Bettany. However, it’s now been announced that this famous Marvel Cinematic Universe character will reappear in a new series on Disney+. In addition to Vision, another android is set to feature in the series – Marvel Comics’ Jocasta, who, according to Deadline, will be brought to life by actress T’Nia Miller.
Here is everything we know about Marvel Television’s upcoming Vision-centric series.
Title
It appears that the upcoming Disney+ MCU series featuring Vision could be called either “Vision” or “Vision Quest.” However, Marvel Television has not officially confirmed which of these titles is correct.
The Vision Series Plot
From what we understand so far, the upcoming Vision series will primarily focus on the life of the recreated synthetic being known as Vision, following his departure at the end of WandaVision. At the conclusion of that show, a new version of “White Vision” was assembled by the government, incorporating memories from the Vision created by Wanda Maximoff within the Westview hex. Since then, he has been absent from the scene. It’s expected that this series will delve into Vision’s quest for finding his role in life as part three of an MCU “trilogy” which started with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. Possibly, Tom King’s 2015 Vision comic book series may offer some inspiration for this new show.
Behind the Scenes
The lead creative mind behind the Vision-guided series is Terry Matalas, who previously served as showrunner and head writer for Star Trek: Picard and 12 Monkeys. Collaborating with him in the script room are Chris Monfette, Michael A. Taylor, Cindy Appel, and Matt Okumura. At present, the series is being filmed in the United Kingdom.
The Vision Series’ Cast
Paul Bettany will take center stage in the Disney+ series, reprising his role as the Vision, a character he initially played in “Avengers: Age of Ultron”. He subsequently portrayed this character in “Captain America: Civil War”, “Avengers: Infinity War” and most recently “WandaVision”. Accompanying him is James Spader, who will voice the malevolent A.I., Ultron, the creator of the Vision. Additionally, Todd Stashwick, a mercenary intent on obtaining the Vision’s technology, will also be part of the cast. Notably, Stashwick has collaborated with the showrunner, Matalas, in both “12 Monkeys” and “Star Trek: Picard” season three.
Additionally, Faran Tahir is part of the ensemble, recognized for portraying Raza, the Ten Rings terrorist in Iron Man’s initial installment. Actor Ruaridh Mollica takes on the role of “Tucker,” leading some fans to hypothesize this could be a pseudonym for Vision’s son Speed, or perhaps his brother Billy Maximoff. T’Nia Miller has also joined the cast as Jocasta, a character who, in the comics, was initially a villainous A.I., but later turned against her creator much like Vision did and became an Avenger. It remains unclear if Elizabeth Olsen will return as Wanda Maximoff, Vision’s spouse, or if Joe Locke will make an appearance as his son, Billy Kaplan, who is also known as Wiccan.
The Vision Series Release Date
At the moment, there isn’t a specific launch date confirmed for the Vision series. However, it’s anticipated that it will be available on Disney+ around 2026. Yet, it might also appear as early as 2027.
