Diego Luna, the star of Andor, gets to fulfill his long-held ambition. Prior to Rogue One, Luna was already a well-established actor, but nothing had ever felt as grand or exclusive as this project. 23 years have passed since Luna gave one of her finest performances, making it understandable why directors Edwards and Tony Gilroy were drawn to this role. The series “Andor”, nestled within the Star Wars saga, is remarkably grounded and authentic. Similarly, the film “Y tu mamá también” feels strikingly genuine.
In both the initial and current seasons of Andor, Diego Luna has infused depth and authenticity into his performances. Luna emphasized that they aimed to break away from conventional Star Wars narratives. As he stated, the show’s creator, Tony Gilroy, made it clear in his instructions: “You must forget that this is a Star Wars production.”
Gilroy stressed the importance of straightforwardness and sincerity, advising the group, “It needs to be straightforward, effortless, and honest.” When an idea appeared forced or evocative of a far-off universe, they recognized that they had deviated from the correct path.
