Elon Musk has faced criticism from Marlon Wayans over how he handled the situation involving his transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson. In a recent podcast appearance on Club Shay Shay hosted by Shannon Sharpe, Wayans discussed his own child Kai’s journey of coming out as transgender.
Wayans expressed thoughts about accepting Musk’s statements that clash with the gender identity of his 22-year-old transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson, and stated that he finds this acceptance challenging.
Wayans criticized Musk for distancing himself from his transgender daughter, remarking, “I might just crash my Tesla off a cliff.” He then expressed, “What he’s saying about his child is troubling to me. That’s not the way you treat loved ones. You don’t abandon your own children. Show some love,” was his message to Musk as he finished speaking.
In a later interview, the actor known for Scary Movie expressed that the change was challenging for him because he seemed to be the last one informed, as Angela Zackery, Kai’s mother, had observed signs that he had overlooked. During an appearance on The Breakfast Club in November 2023, Marlon, who is also a father of a 22-year-old named Shawn, disclosed the transition of his firstborn child.
In a recent interview with conservative commentator Jordan Peterson, Elon Musk made a contentious statement that sparked debate earlier this year about his transgender daughter being affected by the “woke mind virus” and being misrepresented in terms of her gender on various occasions.
At 18 years old, Wilson, who is one of Elon Musk’s twelve children, officially changed her name in July as documented by the court. Court records indicate that she no longer wishes to be associated with her biological father in any manner.
Wayans’ comments against Musk echo Wilson’s criticism of his stance on transgender matters, as discussed by Wilson in a July interview with NBC. She expressed that Musk seemed to believe she wouldn’t speak up, letting his remarks go uncontested. Furthermore, Wilson claimed Musk had bullied her for being open about her queer identity and expressing feminine traits when she was younger, often telling her to be quiet. Additionally, she mentioned that despite sharing custody, he had been largely absent from her life.
