Okay, so I just finished watching Wonder Man, and it’s… interesting. The show revolves around Simon Williams, an actor who’s down on his luck, but he’s also secretly packing some serious superpowers – powers the government knows all about, naturally. Things get really wild when he strikes up a friendship with Trevor Slattery, you might remember him as the former Mandarin. Marvel’s decision to release this one for free on YouTube feels like a clear attempt to get more people watching, and honestly, it needed a boost. It’s facing an uphill battle because, unlike shows like WandaVision or Loki, it doesn’t center around a character we already know from the Avengers films. The big question is, will this free access strategy actually work and get people invested?
With positive reviews and strong audience reactions, there’s hope for a second season of Wonder Man. Marvel is now focusing on live-action shows that can run for several seasons without huge production costs, and Daredevil: Born Again was the first example. Wonder Man could be next! The season finale leaves plenty of storylines open for Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery, and fans are hoping these characters will be revisited – unlike some MCU post-credit scenes that don’t lead to anything.
Wonder Man is currently streaming on Disney+.
