Being a fan of Stranger Things often means long waits between seasons. Since its debut in the summer of 2016, the show hasn’t released a huge number of episodes, and the final season is coming out more than nine years after the first. But this time, the creators are doing something different: giving fans a sneak peek! You can now watch the first five minutes of Stranger Things 5.
This early look is really a look back to when Will Byers found himself trapped in the Upside Down.
The fifth season of Stranger Things will take viewers back to the dark and frightening world of the Upside Down, but to a time in the past – when Will Byers first disappeared. We’ll see the terrifying moment Will tries to escape the Demogorgon, and a climbing accident leads to a horrifying turn of events. Instead of killing Will, the Demogorgon brings him to Vecna, who restrains him with vines and ominously declares they can now “begin.” Vecna, formerly known as Henry Creel, then tells Will they will accomplish “beautiful things” together.
This scene clarifies how Will survived being in the Upside Down. The creatures there weren’t interested in killing him, but in trapping him. This explains why he was tangled in those vines when Joyce and Hopper found him at the end of the first season. It also reveals the origin of his ongoing psychic connection to the Upside Down, which continued to affect him in the second season and beyond.
Plus, it paves the way for the final season of Stranger Things, which is coming soon! The first part (of three) will be released on November 26th.
