Wow, that song is really stuckable! We’re pretty sure “Long Face” from The Vampire Lestat is going to be playing on repeat in our minds all day. But honestly, we’re not complaining – thanks, Lestat! And don’t feel bad if you’ve already forgotten about it; he already shared it with you a year ago. (After all, we’re just mortals.)
The third season of Interview with the Vampire is shaping up to have a fantastic soundtrack. Composer Daniel Hart explains that the music for The Vampire Lestat reflects the character’s long and complex life. Lestat isn’t confined to one genre; the music spans centuries, drawing from classical and romantic French music, early American jazz and ragtime from New Orleans, and even the birth of rock and roll. The goal was to showcase all the musical influences Lestat would have absorbed over his lifetime, and to incorporate sounds from contemporary artists as well. And for those wondering, there will be songs dedicated to Louis!
We likely won’t hear much of Lestat’s music for a while, as the musical The Vampire Lestat isn’t scheduled to premiere until 2026. However, as we discussed in our review of Talmasca, we will get brief previews of his music within that show, so be sure to check it out!
Keep listening to Lestat’s Long Face as much as you like, and enjoy the show legally through streaming! You can also watch seasons one and two of Interview with the Vampire on AMC+ and Netflix.
