‘You Are Free Now’: John Amos’ Daughter Laments Losing Out Chance To Bid Final Goodbye To Dad In Emotional Post Days After His Death

As an ardent fan who has followed John Amos‘ career and personal life over the years, I find myself deeply saddened by the tragic turn of events in his family. The emotional post by Shannon Amos, his daughter, resonates with me on a profound level, as it mirrors the collective grief we all feel at losing such a talented and charismatic individual.

Shannon Amos, John Amos’ daughter, shared an emotional message on social media following her father’s passing. She expressed that she, too, had learned about his death from the global community, indicating her surprise and grief.

On Instagram, Shannon Amos shared their family’s heartfelt wish for resolution following her father’s passing. She mourned the lost chance to give him a fitting goodbye, to stay with him, to comfort him, and to help guide his spirit on its journey out.

Afterward, Shannon mentioned that John appeared in her dreams prior to his departure, and she had left a candle burning for him, illuminating his way.

In simpler terms, the daughter wrote that she requested help from her family, prayed and asked for protection from her ancestors, and made a tribute to Yemayah to purify her father’s spirit. She expressed that her father is now liberated, as she put it, “You are free now my beloved Daddy. You are free.

Following Belinda Foster, a longtime publicist for the actor, revealing to PEOPLE that Shannon’s brother, Kelly Christopher “K.C.” Amos, was subject to a court-imposed non-contact rule by the Superior Court of New Jersey, it was announced that John Amos’ son was instructed not to have any direct or indirect communication with Shannon due to a complaint she had filed.

On October 1, 2024, it was KC who publicly announced that the well-known TV personality had passed away from natural causes in Los Angeles on August 21st.

Discussing the rest of the family, they believe it’s possible that John could have been cremated because KC wanted to prevent any additional inquiries about John’s health situation and subsequent investigations.

The family alleged that KC possibly overlooked John’s wellbeing and kept him secluded during family gatherings. In a similar vein, John also pointed fingers at Shannon for elder abuse. Yet, the late actor expressed his familial affection for them to PEOPLE on one occasion, stating they were family and continued to hold love for each other.

John Amos made these statements in one of his final interviews, which he gave before passing away.
