As Yellowjackets season 3 winds down, viewers are hit with an unexpected turn of events right before the final episode. In episode 9, Lauren Ambrose’s character, Adult Van, meets a tragic end at the hands of Melissa, portrayed by Hilary Swank. This pivotal moment in the suspenseful series is depicted as a subconscious scene featuring Ambrose alongside Liv Hewson, who plays her younger version.
Regarding the death scene we filmed together with Ambrose, Hewson shared with Deadline that she feels incredibly fortunate to have acted alongside her. She explained, “I feel incredibly lucky to have had that experience, as Lauren is an exceptional actress and this character holds a unique significance for me.
The actress also mentioned that it was meaningful for her to collaborate with Lauren, and to portray a scene where her character was alone reflecting in the last moments of her life.
Hewson also shared her desire to work with Lauren more in the future.
In the last episode, it was seen that Van was attempting to serve Melissa a dish made of her own tissue, as a form of retaliation for her blackmailing activities.
In a swift move, Ambrose’s character manages to break free and dash towards her car. However, upon reaching it, she realizes with dismay that the vehicle had run out of fuel.
In a turn of events, Van is saved by Shauna, Tai, and Misty, who encounter an injured Melissa en route. They bind Melissa up and discuss the best course of action regarding her predicament.
Yet, just a few moments on, Van and Melissa engage in a poignant discussion, and Swank’s character, revealing a treacherous side, fatally stabs Van, leading to her demise.
The death of Lauren’s character is sure to leave a lasting impact on the fans.
