Spoiler alert for Yellowjackets season 3.
Ashley Sutton felt touched following the shooting of her last scene in Yellowjackets season 3! In an interview with Deadline, the actress disclosed that her character, Hannah, was the “truest” portrayal she’s ever given. Ashley Sutton’s character helps Natalie, played by Sophie Thatcher, at the expense of Shauna (Sophie Nélisse), the cannibals’ leader, in this series.
The actress shared with the media that her on-screen character is both intelligent and resourceful, able to navigate this post-apocalyptic environment. However, she hinted that despite these skills, the character’s ultimate goal is to return home rather than staying in this setting.
In the final episode of season 3, Hannah ended up killing her fellow captive, Kodiak (Joel McHale), when her attempt to escape proved unsuccessful. Despite swearing loyalty to the emerging Antler Queen, Hannah secretly slipped away during one of their hunts to let Natalia know she was still on her team.
Sutton recalled that filming the scene with Thatcher was extremely emotional.
Following the last take, “cut” was called, and we (the actress and Thatcher) exchanged a look and started crying, she disclosed. This emotional response came from the fact that they strongly felt their characters were desperately trying to return home.
In an unfortunate turn of events during the show, Sutton’s on-screen partner, Edwin (played by Nelson Franklin), met a tragic end in one of the series episodes following his encounter with the Yellowjackets. Despite this sad event, Sutton found it touching and impressive when she had the chance to honor Franklin’s character, expressing that it was “really moving and really special.
The chilling thriller series centers on an exceptionally skilled girls’ soccer team from a wild high school, who find themselves lost in the dense Canadian forest following a devastating airplane accident. As they struggle to maintain their humanity, certain members transform into ruthless cannibals.
Since the debut of season 3, the program has generated considerable excitement due to its distinctive narrative that combines teenage drama and fundamental survival skills. At present, a fourth season has not been confirmed, however, there appears to be a positive outlook for its renewal.
Yellowjackets is now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime and Amazon Prime.
