The first official trailer for the upcoming Marvel series Wonder Man has been released, offering fans a glimpse of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the role of Simon Williams, an actor who becomes a superhero. The show will debut on Disney+ on January 27, 2026, and will consist of eight episodes.
Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest created the show, with Guest overseeing it as showrunner. Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is also directing several episodes.
Marvel Studios, Family Owned, and Onyx Collective are producing this series. It will be part of the “Marvel Spotlight” collection, meaning you don’t need to be an expert on the Marvel Cinematic Universe to enjoy it – each story is self-contained.

The series Wonder Man centers on Simon Williams, an actor striving for success in Hollywood as he adjusts to having superpowers. He encounters Trevor Slattery, the character portrayed by Ben Kingsley in Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi. Ironically, Simon and Trevor end up competing for the lead role in a movie about Wonder Man – a role Simon ultimately takes on himself as he transforms into the hero.
As a huge fan, I was really intrigued to hear Brad Winderbaum talk about how they’re handling Trevor Slattery in the new show. Apparently, his storyline has a really cool three-part arc, and they’re playing him as genuinely good-hearted – not at all the sarcastic, manipulative character we might expect. It sounds like they’re aiming for something really sincere with his journey, which I’m excited to see!
The show features a talented cast including Arian Moayed as a Damage Control agent named X Mayo, Zlatko Burić as the quirky director Von Kovak, Olivia Thirlby, and Byron Bowers. Demetrius Grosse plays Simon’s brother, Eric Williams, who goes by the nickname Grim Reaper, and Ed Harris is Simon’s agent, Neal Saroyan. Lauren Glazier, Josh Gad, Joe Pantoliano, and other actors also appear in currently unrevealed roles.
The upcoming movie Wonder Man will be a part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It promises a unique combination of superhero action and a satirical look at the world of Hollywood.
