Wuthering Waves – Qiuyuan build and materials guide

I’m so excited about Wuthering Waves! I’ve been checking out builds for Qiuyuan, and let me tell you, she’s amazing. She’s a 5-star swordmaster who focuses on Aero damage, but what really sets her apart is how well she supports characters who rely on Echo Skills. If you’re looking for a great support character, Qiuyuan is definitely the way to go – she can really boost your team’s damage!

Qiuyuan builds up a special resource called Swordster’s Soliloquy by attacking, dodging, and using his introductory skill. He can store up to 600 of this resource, which then powers many of his abilities.

When a character reaches 200 Swordster’s Soliloquy, their normal attack is changed to Thus Spoke the Blade: Inkwash. This new attack deals Aero damage and is counted as a Heavy Attack.

Reaching level 400 in Swordster’s Soliloquy unlocks the Bamboo’s Shade effect, which boosts the damage of Echo Skills for the entire team.

When Qiuyuan enters Inksplash of Mind, his Heavy Attack is replaced by Swordster’s Soliloquy. Using this new attack consumes Swordster’s Soliloquy and deals Aero damage, while still registering as a Heavy Attack. Importantly, this attack also functions like an Echo Skill.

Qiuyuan’s special ability, Resonance Skill, is a quick dash that deals Aero damage and is considered an Echo Skill. Holding down the button makes him dash further and jump into the air. If there are no enemies around, he can keep air-walking as long as he has stamina.

Qiuyuan’s special ability, Resonance Liberation, deals damage considered as ‘Echo Skill’ damage, and boosts the critical damage of his teammates based on his own critical hit rate. His outro skill then further increases the damage dealt by incoming Resonators, also as ‘Echo Skill’ damage.

Getting more copies of Bamboo’s Shade lets you improve its abilities. Specifically, unlocking Node 2 is very important if you’re using Bamboo as a secondary damage dealer, as it significantly boosts the damage of his Echo Skills.

Best Qiuyuan weapons – Wuthering Waves

Qiuyuan’s most powerful tool is his unique sword, Emerald Sentence. It significantly increases his Critical Hit Rate, boosting both his personal damage and the effectiveness of his buff that increases allies’ Critical Hit Damage. The sword also raises the user’s Attack power and provides a special ‘Bamboo Cleaver’ bonus after using a special skill immediately after a normal attack or introductory skill.

Qiuyuan can quickly build up stacks of his Heavy Attack damage buff by using both his Echo and Enhanced Heavy Attack to activate Echo Skills. Additionally, when the character holding Emerald Sentence uses an Intro Skill, it boosts Echo Skill damage for the whole team.

Best Qiuyuan Echoes – Wuthering Waves

For Qiuyuan, the Law of Harmony’s Sonata Effect is a great choice if you’re using him as a support character focused on boosting Echo Skill damage for the team. It increases Echo Skill damage for everyone, and also improves Qiuyuan’s own Heavy Attack damage. To finish the build, add two Echoes from any of the three Aero-based Sonata Effects for a small damage increase.

If you really want to play Qiuyuan as a Main DPS, go for the full Sierra Gale Sonata Effects.

Best Qiuyuan teams – Wuthering Waves

As we’ve discussed, Qiuyuan excels at boosting Resonators that focus on Echo Skill damage, and this naturally suggests the best teams to build around him.

  • Galbrena (Main DPS), Qiuyuan (Sub DPS), Shorekeeper (Support)

Galbrena does most of her damage with her Echo Skill, and having Qiuyuan on the team greatly improves her power due to all the boosts he provides. Shorekeeper is the best choice for the team’s healer.

Qiuyuan works well with Iuno, who increases his damage with Heavy Attacks, and Phrolova, who benefits from his skill damage and helps him stay on the field longer. If you’re using Phrolova, consider adding Cantarella as a Support character to further enhance your team.

Qiuyuan ascension materials – Wuthering Waves

Okay, so I finally got Qiuyuan on my team, and now I need to power him up fast! Here’s what I need to collect to do that:

  • LF Whisperin Core x4
  • MF Whisperin Core x12
  • HF Whisperin Core x12
  • FF Whisperin Core x4
  • Truth in Lies x46
  • Wintry Bell x60
  • Shell Credits x170,000

You can get Whispering Cores by defeating Tacet Discords found throughout the map, or by completing Forgery Challenges. To get Truth in Lies, you’ll need to defeat Fenrico in the Deliverance in the Deep challenge, and the Wintry Bell can be found in the Bell-Borne Ravine. For Shell Credits, the best way to earn them is by completing Simulation Challenges at the Training Grounds.

Besides increasing Qiuyuan’s level, you’ll also need to improve his skills. Here’s a list of the materials you’ll require to do that:

  • LF Whisperin Core x25
  • MF Whisperin Core x28
  • HF Whisperin Core x40
  • FF Whisperin Core x57
  • Inert Metallic Drip x25
  • Reactive Metallic Drip x28
  • Polarized Metallic Drip x55
  • Heterized Metallic Drip x67
  • Curse of the Abyss x26
  • Shell Credits x2,030,000

Okay, so about those materials we talked about earlier – you can find the details up above. As for Cadence Seeds and anything related to them, I’ve had the most luck farming them in the Forgery Challenge – specifically, Flaming Remnants and Garden of Salvation. You can access those through the Guidebook. You can also buy a limited amount from Uncle Wei in Jinzhou if you’re in a pinch. And finally, if you’re trying to get Curse of the Abyss, you’ll need to defeat Threnodian: Leviathan – that’s where it drops!
