Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Reveals Patch Notes for August 22 Update

Game developer Leenzee has released an update for the Soulslike game “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers” on both PC and console platforms. The update includes numerous performance improvements and bug fixes aimed at improving the gameplay experience. Although the game has been generally well-received by players, some decisions made by its studio have sparked criticism. Nevertheless, many fans remain hopeful that “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers” will continue to flourish amidst this ongoing controversy.

Following its debut, the action-packed game “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers” garnered over 100,000 simultaneous players on Steam, captivating them with its engaging combat, clever level design, skill tree, and challenging boss battles. The game’s launch as a day one release on Xbox Game Pass in July further expanded its fanbase and made it accessible to even more gamers. However, a significant update rolled out on August 12 has sparked boycotts and negative reviews, as the developer implemented several gameplay changes that players found unappealing and altered the game’s narrative. Critics argue that these alterations, perceived as censorship, were aimed at appeasing a small group of Chinese fans who were dissatisfied with the game’s portrayal of historical fiction.

Following the contentious update of “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers,” Leenzee has just released a smaller patch aimed at all players. The game has faced criticism for subpar PC performance, but this new update aims to address these issues with enhancements, including a new “Nvidia Reflex Low Latency” option in the settings menu. Although the impact of this feature may vary based on individual hardware, it could significantly improve performance and stability. Console players will appreciate the resolution of an issue that previously prevented achievement unlocking, as well as an issue concerning PS5 controller inputs. However, the studio has yet to comment on their recent changes to “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers’ storyline and gameplay.

After the launch of the controversial 1.5 update, a dedicated player developed the mod named “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers” to revert the latest modifications introduced by Leenzee. The alterations involved making certain NPCs and bosses invulnerable, and replacing death scenes with fresh dialogue that several players believe weakens the game’s previously compelling narrative. Many gamers have expressed their appreciation for the game but feel deceived due to the lack of openness about these changes.

Following criticism over the subpar PC performance of “Wuchang: Fallen Feathers”, Leenzee started offering compensation to affected players. Those who bought the Standard Edition are now able to obtain the game’s soundtrack for free, as well as three in-game headgears. For those who spent more on the Deluxe Edition, they will receive three premium costumes, four new weapons, an extra free outfit, and additional content.
