As a devoted gamer, I’ve recently been captivated by Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the newest Soulslike title that’s been stealing the spotlight. Remarkably, even as an Xbox Game Pass offering, it manages to attract thousands of simultaneous Steam players. The gameplay harks back to the original Dark Souls games in a way no other title in its genre does. It’s an absolute gem!
While it may not reach the same level of quality as a traditional FromSoftware game, playing Wuchang at a smooth 60 fps makes for an outstanding gaming experience.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers graphics mode breakdown
On the high-end versions of Wuchang, you’ll find three graphics modes to select from: Prioritize Frame Rate (FPS), Balanced, and Prioritize Graphics. Additionally, there’s an option called “Lock Frames Per Second” (FPS) which can help reduce, although not completely eliminate, frame rate drops and stutters. We advise keeping this feature turned on for optimal performance.
As a gamer, I’d say: “I personally focus on achieving the best visuals in FPS games at 1080p resolution, letting the frames per second (FPS) values climb as high as they can. If smoothness and immediate response is my top priority, this setup works like a charm!
The balanced mode aims for a middle ground, offering a generally steady performance; however, be aware that the game might occasionally display screen splitting, or tearing, in this setting.
Meanwhile, Prioritize Graphics strives to provide a high-definition 4K gaming experience; however, it’s not typically a consistent choice across various gaming consoles.
Best PS5 and PS5 Pro graphics mode – Wuchang
Undoubtedly, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers performs optimally on the PlayStation 5 Pro, however, even on the standard PS5 model, it offers an excellent gaming experience.
When you’re using a standard PlayStation 5, activating the “Lock FPS” feature results in variable framerates that range from 60 fps, 40 fps, to 30 fps depending on whether you’re in FPS, Balanced, or Graphics mode. To maintain smooth gameplay, we suggest using the “Prioritize FPS” mode with “Lock FPS” enabled for optimal visual flow.
On the PS5 Pro, various modes generally run at more than 60 frames per second, often approaching that mark. If your screen is 4K with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), opting for “Prioritize Graphics with Lock FPS” mode is recommended. However, if VRR isn’t available to you, the FPS or Balanced modes may provide a smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience without any significant drops.
Best Xbox Series S and X graphics mode – Wuchang
On the Xbox Series X, the display is generally comparable to the standard PlayStation 5. It’s advisable not to fiddle with the Prioritize Graphics setting, but if you have a Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) screen, both the Balanced and Prioritize Frames Per Second (FPS) modes will perform exceptionally well.
It’s pleasing to note that the Xbox Series S offers a complete set of three modes, yet I find myself only able to suggest one – Prioritize Frame Rate with Lock Frame Rate enabled.
