Writers Reveal that Ben Affleck’s Daredevil Was on the List of Potential Cameos in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

As a long-time fan who has followed the Marvel Universe for decades, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment that Ben Affleck’s Daredevil didn’t make it into the highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine movie. Having seen Affleck portray Daredevil in the 2003 film, and having grown fond of his character, I was eagerly waiting for a chance to see him share the screen with Deadpool and Wolverine.

For countless enthusiasts, the highly anticipated film starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool – currently playing in cinemas worldwide – did not disappoint. Packed with numerous Easter Eggs, this movie has been a hit, keeping fans busy as they continue to discover and tally these hidden gems.

Despite numerous Easter Eggs making it into the movie due to the writers’ extensive connections, unfortunately, several intriguing characters were left out during the editing process for various reasons. This article will delve into one such overlooked character.

In our discussion, we’re referring to the role of Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Daredevil. This character appeared in a movie, and his universe had a presence through Elektra, played by Jennifer Garner. The question arises as to why Affleck wasn’t included, and if he was ever under consideration for future appearances. Stay tuned, we’ll unveil the answer soon!

Recently chatting with IndieWire, the brilliant minds behind Deadpool and Wolverine (Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick) dished out some juicy behind-the-scenes details about their movie’s production. When the topic of Ben Affleck’s Daredevil in our upcoming flick came up, they shed light on what became of that idea. Here’s the scoop: it didn’t quite make the final cut.

Which character from the Fox Universe was it that you truly wished to collect but, for some reason, were unable to?

Reese: I think the answer’s nobody. I think everybody we asked said yes.

Wernick: Daredevil we wanted.

Reese: Did we want to get Ben [Affleck]? We never asked Ben though, I don’t think.

Wernick: At some point, Ben was on the list.

Reese: He was included in the initial roster, but I’m not sure if he ever made it to the final script or was actually approached for the role. It’s one of the delightful aspects of “Deadpool” that its popularity made it simpler and simpler to bring more people onto the film. In essence, Ryan has many of these individuals’ contact details in his phonebook, not necessarily a Rolodex as such, but you get the idea.
